That looks like it'll work. :) For the RAMsinks, just about anything'll work fine, since the RAM doesn't get that hot on that card. Coolerguys had a sale going awhile back on CoolerMaster copper RAMsinks, $5 for the 8 pack. Might be worth lookin' at. I bought like 5 packs, since they work great for MOSFETS & chipsets & such, too. :D

you mean from what it was stock to what it is now? no im afraid i dont man i wish i did :( :( i can already see that my system temps are beter cause before i did this mod there was alot of heat in that area of the mb and now it doesnt seem to be as hot.. by the way what would i use for messuring temps in that area? some kinda temp sensor that i can slip under the sink or somthing?? im not lucky enough to have a newer card with the temps built in...

I dont know someone with a 9800 pro would have to answer this. I think the temp sensor might be on there, it just may not show up on the properties tabs. Did you try using ATI Tool to find the sensor?

Another thing ya might wanna do, is remove the shim. The 9700's & 9800's usually have a bit of a gap between the core and the HSF, so removing the shim gives ya much better contact. Ya just gotta be a little more careful, remounting the HSF. Assuming you used nuts & long bolts to mount it, torquing it down evenly goes better if the holes through the HSF are drilled out slightly larger than the bolt's diameter, as long as the bolt head is still larger than the hole. :) I just took the shim off my X800 VIVO, cause even tho it fits better, it's still not really flush. Just be really careful if you decide to remove it, don't want any spendy mishaps. ;)

yes i know about this shim but on the 9800pro's. i thought they corrected this problem so removing the shim isnt needed? im making perfect contact with my gpu's core. i tested for contact before i put the card back into the system i was making a nice foot print on the heat sink i could see the wole core's impression on the heat sink so im sure its making good contact.... thx for the heads up but this is somthing i was already aware of.... my next step is to get some memory sinks.

thx perc,
