The result was achieved with ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard with AMD Athlon FX55 CPU and two NV45 Ultra Graphics Cards.

Nice!

OMG.. What a system! ... But is NV45 = 6800U

NV45 just denotes a PCI-Ex version of the 6800 cards. Supposedly they default to 450 core instead of 400, but who knows. :stick:

Impressive.
Its also the first time we see 10k go down with hardware that's not actually available. Not sure if overclocking was required at all in order to reach that score either. Wonder if they used FM Approved drivers thou? :D Would be nice to see that score in the ORB.

Wow... :slobber:

SLI is amazing, I can't wait for my new setup....

very impressive. nVidia 1st to break 10K in 3dmark05 record. i knew 10k would come much faster in 05 than in 03. thx to SLI, just shows you how important dual gpu is for gaming.

btw, I thought 6800 ultra PCIe is already out and available for retail? at least i've seen review sites testing them. anyways, that 10k score was probably done with air cooling and un-approved drivers since almost 99% of nvidia drivers are not fm approved.

oh, looky what i found..

Yea sure the cards are out (atleast 'on paper') but can you actually buy the setup they used there (mobo, cpu, card, ram)?
Kinda lame to see 10k go down like that thou :D

in 3dmark2000 10k required A/C cooled P3 (at 1200ish IIRC), very highly clocked GF2, SDRAM at 160 2-2-2 range and Digitaljesus mixed drivers and huge amount of tweaking
in 2001, voltmods, waterchiller cooled P4 1.7@2312, waterchiller+pelt+custom coldplate cooled GF3 200/450@312/660 were needed for 10k
Mark03, -90C dualcascade cooling, 9800XT 412/364@ 657/472, P4EE@4522

Mark05, 6800u x 2, mobo, cpu, ram, wheeeee! :P

true your right Macci, i think it would have been better to see 10k go down with a single card solution. Would have been more challenging. Maybe a water cooled SLI 6800 ultra with water chiller could get 12k w/volt modding? a lot cheaper to get higher score with SLI in 3dmark05, than buy an x800xt pe and cascade. Don't you think?

if only I had the money :(

excellent score though!

So when are you top guys going to try SLI? With you overclocking abilities, and a FX55 and two 6800Ultra's with 3 Cascades we could se some insane scores ;)

I guess the most interesting technical problem will be to get cooling onto both graphics cards is phase change is being used. I would imagine that chilled water will be first to go on and then someone will come out with an idea for phase and then other people do likewise.

If you cannot stick a phase change block straight onto at least one gpu then you would have to use conduction through an insultated metal rod to transfer the cold to the gpu(s).

Shouldnt a 10K in 05 mean at least 20K in 03 ???
