I Have a Abit AT7 (the first one not the new max2) I am trying to load win xp on the highpoint controler in a raid 0. I have 2 maxtor 20 gig drives. I have set up raid on this board several times with no problems. Win 2k loaded no problem and then tried to load winxp on 2nd partition (dual boot, because I couldn't get xp to load so I tried win 2k first) and when I get to the screen that says push any key to boot from cd it flashes setup is inspecting your hardware and then it goes blank. It doesn't lock up because I can hit Ctrl Alt Dlt and it resets. If I put Win2k cd in and repeat the above steps it starts fine. If I hook up a seperate HD on the regular IDE channels it starts Ok with xp cd. The reason for new install is that it kept locking up on me (thought I had bad drivers so finally just decided to do a fresh install). Also on the set-up of XP it would get to the point of completing and when I got to the screen that says You have 39 minutes left it would lock up there. This was before the problem I am having now. It seems to be getting worse.
Different things I have tried:
Vid card
Ide cables
Hard drives
Turning off ACPI in bios
CD rom
Different Version of XP
Master/Cable Select settings on HD
Other Hardware I am using:
XP2200
Corsair XMS 3500 512
Enermax 435W PS (Checked Voltage 5.12 and 12.45)

UPDATE
It let me get to the setup screen to format the HD, don't know if it will finish set-up, but shouldn't have to go thru these changes. Obviously something is wrong.

Hi:)
I have the same mobo as you do, but never met this pbl.
The only thing that come to my mind is.... For me, I put the three boot option (first device, second, third) on : ATA133-RAID, and it does boots, even with like you, a dual boot 2k/xp.
It's the only thing I see .
Good luck.

Was this PC running overclocked before? if yes, did you clear the cmos or restore settings back to default before reformatting? Just a thought, but if your bios still has OCed settings that could cause these kinds of problems.

Yeah I cleared the bios. I finally got it to install xp correctly no BSOD and everything seems to be working now. It definately has some kind of issue and when NE gets some more KX7-R boards I think I'll RMA it for one of those.
Thanks for the help guys
Nate

The Dude, weren't you going to get a dual xp system?
