I should have my x800xt PE any minute and I want to do a format and fresh install with either Windows 2000 or XP Pro. Which OS and driver set is the best right now?

AMD = Win 2000
Intel = Win XP

win2k is the best gaming OS for AMD too? (GAMING, NOT BENCHING :D ;))
I heard that 2k is the best idd... Especially with USB mouses.

The difference isent that big with a tweaked XP vs 2k.
For xtreme benching i would go with 2k but for gaming i would stick with xp cause its more futureproof etc etc etc...

Try 2k, and use the "search" button to find a thread about the best drivers for r420 on 03.
