View Full Version : Push for 2nd in daily production?
Anybody up for a little push? The #2 and #3 teams in daily production are very close to each other and only about 75% more that what we currently produce. Now I know that sounds like alot, but getting more XS.org people involved and getting more of your friends and family involved should easily take care of this deficit. :D
I know DDTung showed some interest in this project the last time he posted here so let's give a big push for him to show we are serious and would appreciate any/all of his help with D²OL. ;) If we can not get to 2nd or 3rd... then when he joins up with us we should easily rocket past the DPC and ARS.
So... anyone else interested in a little challenge?
Maybe a little contest is in order? (with prizes of course!!!) ;)
I did a little contest on another project where people gained a "numbered ticket" for a certain amount of production(like 1 ticket every 250 conformers). All your production during the given time frame went towards these "tickets". After the end of this time... my son drew numbers out of a hat and whoever had those numbers won prizes. It's semi-simple and in my opinion, pretty fair. Those who produce a lot will get a lot of tickets but we all know that this does NOT guarantee a win(ie. the Yankees :( :( :(). Even someone who has just one ticket can win(ie. the Red Socks :stick: ).
So... any of this sound like fun? Or am I just an idiot?
BTW, I have a Procore radiator & shroud, Swiftech MCW5002-A, and some tubing that I could include in a prize package. I'd want to also include a pump in that package so I'd be sure to get one of those before the contest would officially start. ;)
This can be a lot of fun guys... :)

i could only add a P3 700mhz... ... ok i will :D ehhe
And I also still have a brand new Swiftech MCX478-V sitting here that was supposed to be used in another contest(:stick: towards saaya! ;)).
Then there's always cash via PayPal. ;) I've had a couple of contests with prizes like that too. $25 via PayPal can get almost anyone to smile.

as far as upgrades go.... can't really do much at the moment... significant amount of money has been allocated for phase change cooling for my XP-M "wonder chip" :)
so no luck here :( but i can put out some "paypal money" for the winner...
great idea, Jeff....

Thx a lot for the offer saaya, but my new gfx is on the way, just dunno when it will arrive....US Postal tracking really sux
So does 250 conformers/ticket sound fair for a 7-day contest?
My buddy's 1.7GHz XP puts out ~100/day so that means that single rig people should get at least 3 tickets... more if they can recruit their friends and family under their username. We can make a rule where we will ROUND UP to the next ticket increment at the end of the contest. (ie. if you are at 251 conformers at the end of the contest you will receive TWO tickets!)
Also... I will NOT participate in the contest. I'll have enough fun just watching everybody push. ;)
Come to think of it, at the start of the contest we shoud ROUND DOWN to the previous 250 mark. (ie. if you are at 249 conformers at the start of the contest we should say that you started at 0. :D) Basically that means that once you turn in one more conformer you will already receive your first ticket :)
Also, that will make it incredibly easy to see how many tickets you are up to. Keeping everybody getting tickets at 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1250, 1500, 1750, 2000, 2250, 2500, 2750, 3000, 3250, etc. is how it should be done... imho at least. ;)
Remember... FUN!!! :toast:
sounds fine to me. Time to bribe people for docking time.. :D
ill dig around for some old stuff that I can part with

Let's talk about this a little more before we start. Just to get the ideas out and then pick the best. ;)
I think Sunday evening is a pretty decent start/stop time. Maybe 9pm EDT? That way the winners can be announced the following Tuesday... or if we want people to suffer, the following Saturday. ;)
And that's the exact page I was going to use. Free-DC :toast:!!!

9pm is fine....
also we should urge all participants to do manual update on all their nodes at about 7:30-8:00pm this Saturday and then at the same time the day contest stops... that way everyone gets max tickets to start with and max when they finish...

I could do a stats screenshot pretty easily I think. And then people could see how many tickets they have automatically. The script would just subtract the scores from the snapshot date and then divide by 250. From there it can round up or down to see how many tickets you get.

@DDTung, #1 has a nice ring to it but I think we may be a little too far behind right now. BUT, it seems like D²OL may be moving on to the next stage sometime in the future(don't know how soon tbh) so we may be able to pull that one off... eventually. :D

I am not sure if I will have it done soon.
As a back up plan, you could just export the stats table to excel and put in 2 forumlas and then save it as an html doc and upload it that way. It wouldn't be quite as updated, but it would work fine.
Just to let you guys know... seems like somebody lit a fire under the Dutch Power Cows butts and they have now increased their production to that of Free-DC. So... looks like we'll have to shoot for #1. Which is a 100% increase in our production... and which may actually be doable with a little more recruiting and publicity on our fine D²OL team. ;)

I'm thinking about starting a little bit of a farm here to help out, and I was wondering if these things would be any good to run 24x7 at 100%, doesn't look like much cooling.

Right now I have 6 rigs on D2OL.

6 is a good start. ;)
And guys... we are inching our way closer to the #2 & #3 producers. We are only down about 50% now. (they are at 150,000 right now and we are at 100,000 right now)
Nice work everyone. :toast:
And just so people know... Free-DC is making a huge push right now. They want to take the #1 position over by Christmas. This in turn is making the Dutch Power Cows increase their output to try and stay ahead of them. After all this is said and done the DPC will almost definitely relax(the Free-DC guys say they always do that sort of thing... almost like an admition of defeat). Once this happens... we can make a push to knock them to #3.
NO ONE PERSON SHOULD GIVE UP! We WILL take the #2 spot eventually!!! :D
