I need some advise,i still have 2cpu's,1x1800+ T-Bred-B that easy runs at 2350mhz,and 1x750 duron(old),the can be very nice folding rigs but a need a cheap ass mobo to put them in,what be best to buy then, from arround 50€ or cheaper,Ooo :brick: i think that its maybe better to buy secondhand mobo's,sorry guys.

Now a run only 2 nodes with my xp-m-2600+@2400mhz,is it possiple to run 4 nodes at night, becaus between 00.00hPM and 10.00AM i do notting with the pc,it just stands there gathering dust.

Is this true, that a can run 1client at 1 partitie,a have 4 partities so can i run 4 nodes/clients,now there is one on C:/ and one on D:/,its to be sure that i ask,i dont won't to mess up my rig.

why do you want to run more than one node on a single cpu machine that dosnt have HT? :S Just wondering but surley it would have a negitive affect on output? or am i missing the point completely? to be honest what i would do is set one node with que at like 500 and disable the net access overnight, and then let it upload when you are useing the pc as it will fold faster when the pc isnt in use? but to be honest i couldnt be assed with all that and would just let it run one node 24/7.

I am running 2 nodes at the moment and it works fine, the both do a very good jod, both running 24/7.

I tought that you can run more then 1 node,if you instal them in a differnt directory, and it works fine.

:off:
I have a PIII 866mhz that a wone use to fold on,but when a start it up he says"NTLDR is missing"what is that and how can i get it to work.

You should only run 2 clients on one rig if you have a multiple CPU rig or a CPU with Hyper Threading.

About the NTLDR error... if you aren't worried about the data on the drive you can just format it and re-install windows... or you can pop the drive in another PC and pull any important info off. There are things you can do to fix the error without formatting... but there are too many options and too much time in troubleshooting to even bother.

NTLDR rig is ok now,thks.

About the 2 nodes a run,you say a just have to run 1 node, becaus a have only a single cpu rig,but why is it running that good now with 2 nodes,i dont have any troubles with it,it runs smooth.

Can you see at my stats how good am folding, and do i have to shutdown 1 node,as i say't it runs very good:rocker:.

Yes you are doing very well! But your chip doesn’t have the technology to crunch on 2 operations at the same time so it is inefficient at it.

.:EDIT:.And yes I know that a P4 w/HT can't technically crunch 2 things at the same time either... But it is much more efficient at it.

You already have some good stats out of that rig... so let’s try an experiment. Stop one of your nodes and let 1 single node run for a few days. (You don’t have to uninstall it… just make sure that node doesn’t start up automatically for a few days) Then compare your daily output with one single node vs. 2 nodes on one rig.

So we can keep track of this... what are the 2 node numbers on that rig? And let us know which one you keep running. I bet that you get a nice increase in output with a single node on your chip. (You can find the node number in the upper right corner of the client's GUI window.)

yea i run 1 node on my AMD chip, 2 on HyperThreaded chips. I just assumed that since 1 node pegs an AMD chip to 100% usage 2 would bog it down a bit and come out slightly slower.

RocKer

Ok i will do that Rodzilla,i will stop node 112147 tonight at around 00.00h,and i will run node 112148 for 5 days alone, then a will startup node 112147 again and run both nodes also for 5 days, dos that sounds ok for you :toast: .

The rig is xp-m-2600@2400mhz on 8RDA3+ DDR400,the rest is ta same as in sig.

I miss my a64:dammit:.

I will go through all of the relevant data in these stats pages and post updates at the bottom of this page.

It's a projection of your total daily production from the node in question. It is based on the 6hr updates. It has proven to be rather accurate for me.) These are sweet node stats!!

As you can see by the daily output from RocKer, His production went up when he switched his AMD rig from 2 nodes back to 1. As soon as he went back to 2 nodes on one rig his production fell.

Wooohhiiii your going for it he Rodzilla, nice stats  .

A had to check some things the past 5h,a had a lot of reboots to do so i shutdown both nodes, but at 00.00h a will start node 112148 and let it run for 5days,thougt a had to say this becaus off the nodes where down, that you diddent think that something was wrong orso.

Like i say'd it's running NOW!!!(it's 00.00h overhere now;).

Jeff

So just looking at the 23rd... it seems like you gain a bit by just going with one node on a single, non-HT'd cpu.

Rodzilla
10-24-2004, 09:07 AM
Let’s also not forget that running 2 nodes on one box uses 2X the memory... So you get a point boost and you free up some resources. we need to collect more data so we can be absolutely sure, and to show the benefits of this. It will be good for future reference.

RocKer
10-24-2004, 09:23 AM
Mmm the use of memory is about the same, with 2nodes a used around 280mb,now with 1node 240mb,a have a total of 512mb on the rig.

But it seems that 1node runs better then 2nodes,i can see that now also, but a will let it run for 5days with the one, althoug next week i have my ocz booster back from RMA and my hands will itsch for a better oc :D ,but i will do the test completly and run with the 2nodes also for 5days;).

Do you now what DOCKWIN.EXE is,becaus that useing alot of recourses(53%),is that related to D2OL or something else.

D²OL's main program is D2OL.exe... that program starts DOCKWIN.exe and
GRIDWIN.exe when needed. At any given time only D2OL.exe and one of those other two will be running.

All the stuff that is left is needed by the OS to run... there are a few things you can get rid of but none that will effect anything. You can just leave it as is.
