hey, somebody hit me up on msn and asked me if we can help him to find the mods on his volari v8 non duo. his account is still not unlocked so im posting the pics for him.

he chatted with somebody who gave him this information:

if you want to change the voltage .you must to take off the capacitance...
and it is vVO=Vref (1+R84/R80) 2.5V=1.25V*(1+1000/1000).
This is for core voltage

here are the specs of the interesting chips on the card:

well for this chip it would be simple, pin1 to pin4.

now he doesnt identify what chip it is on the datasheet so i have no clue what that does :/ sorry

iirc its this one

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=18046

there are two so one is probably vgpu and the other vddr?

yes, thats the one, and there are two of them on the edge of the card.

I was told by Lain Guan ( the makers of the card) that the capacitiers dont need to be removed . I,ll try dig up more info if needed ..And thx for helping me out guys.

if not then just pm him I cant find him to PM? but Im sure he will bring some light on the subject..

I just have to let u guys know that the Core Maxxs-out at 600Mhz .

My contacts @Lian guan told me they are tested @ 500Mhz (core) before shipping the cards out. As the V8Ts core (one in picture) is the XG40m or Mk2 version it is based on XGIs Moblie GPU..So its diffrent from the Duo GPU as less voltage is needed to run the core . Even the Mk2 Ultra version of this card no longer needs a extra power connection at the rear of the PCB, such as the older versions (like a 9800xt).

Well like everyone else i cant wait to do this project as i have 3 cards (all V8s) And i wanna see it kick some a$$ in 3DMarks.

Would it help if i sent Ron a V8T128 card to work on????

Well it would be nice if some of the XGI cards owners would be willing to send in their Original BIOS, cause I want to start and look at them to maybe start of a tool to edit the XGI BIOS's... So if you own a XGI powered cards, please backup the BIOS and send it to me (mavke@mvktech.net)?

There are actually ppl at xs using XG cards

Do they actually have a chance against the two Graphzillas ??

Yeps there are well they can stand just against the value card, like the GeForce 6200 and Radeon X300 somehow and well not all have that much money to buy even such cards. So yes they sell still a lot of cards. And well since they are growing it is better to keep on eye on them. :)
