Just got my new DVI flat panel monitor today, the BenQ FP231W. Incredible monitor. Huge and bright, with no dead pixels. Best of all it was very reasonably priced.:)
Anyhow, I've had some issues in getting it to work correctly. Using the DVI connection on the normal (top connector) would work, but it wouldn't allow more than 1600x1200 resolution (stretched) regardless of monitor driver or control panel configuration. I even tried to enter the resolution manually, but I got an out of range message. Things generally looked not so good on the screen in terms of clarity and sharpness.
Switched to the bottom DVI connector, and there is a large improvement in capability and picture quality. I can run at full resolution with a very clear picture.
Anybody have any idea why this would be?? Did NVidia use a different driver chip for the top DVI output?? I was thinking of getting another of these monitors in the future, but I won't if this is the type of thing I can expect from that connector.
Disappointing to say the least...especially from a video card of this caliber.:(
