Looking around these forums I see mention of software that will allow me to adjust the voltage on my 6800GT, is there such a program?

Well.... i guess "coolbits" is considered software. Voltage adjustments can
be made using this program.
First you'll need to d/l nvflash and use it extract a copy of the GT BIOS. Then
use a program called NoBiTar open it up and edit it. Coolbits program is then
used to make changes.
It isn't for the faint hearted and it takes some knowledge of hexcode to understand
what values to use to obtain the desired results.
The Throtle Voltage is what needs to be changed as this will give
the 2D and 3D the same voltage change you make. Say 1.4 or
whetever. Stock is 1.3 on the GT.
Then this modded BIOS is flashed back on the GT.
Offhand I don't know of a software program that will allow a guy to click on
an Icon and then check a box that says give me X amount of voltage.

yeah there is a very easy way to adjust your gpu vcore, Omniextreme Editing tool. You can add +.1v to 3d voltage and then flash your card with this edited bios. You can use your original bios. NvFlash. if you have no idea what I just said, dont flash anything cause there isnt that much need.

This can all be done from Windows (no DOS boot required).
Get nvflash v442.
Start-->Run-->cmd
Browse to the folder that contains nvflash.
Type this command in to backup card's original BIOS:
nvflash442 -b mybios.rom
Edit copy of ROM with OmniExtremeEditFX.
Use this to flash:
"C:\Documents and Settings\ANON\Desktop\nvidia stuff\nvflash442w\nvflash442.exe" nvflash.exe -f uclajdsbios.rom -p -u -2
Of course your path and file names will vary. ;)
grab nibitor 1.8, thats the latest version.
no need for hex or something. just change the voltage to whatever you want it to ;)

Okay call this stupid question, What exactly do you gain from this?, how many FPS do you get from going say for example, watercooled GPU and overclocked, after the voltmod how much increase in FPS do you see and is it worth it?

is it worth it? you get a boost fro free, doesnt that mean its worth it even if its a small boost?
and most people get a nice boost of 50mhz on the core with good cooling afaik.

Okay call this stupid question, What exactly do you gain from this? I'd say, what do you have to lose? You can always flash it back. :stick:
As far as overclocking, most people are at least getting up to 400 clocks, which is Ultra level. That's a lot to gain, no?
Here's a thread dedicated to it (http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=785299), with lots of results, FYI.
And here's a review showing stock v. OC (http://www.rojakpot.com/default.aspx?location=3&var1=144&var2=0).

setting my card to 1.4v in 2d and 3d works great! 440/1150 rock solid. It was not stable at such speeds until i cooled my cards mosfets by installing heatsinks to them.
my GPU runs at 42~44c loaded so gpu wasnt issue it was power circuitry getting to hot! cooling helps mucho
card feels alot faster now anyhow!

what kind of heatsinks did you use to cool the mosfets and where are they on the 6800?

Don't know what he used or get it from, but you can go here (http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/scan/se=System%20Cooling/se=Chipset::GPU%20Coolers/mp=menu_search.html), only my 2c
Yea i see no loss, as long as you don't volt mod to the extreme you can always flash back.
