new 27" LCD

I just got this tonight. it surprised the hell out of me when i hooked it to my computer. I've messed with cheaper EDTV LCD TV's that were 640i's, and hooked laptops to them @ costco's to mess with and they sucked.

This one's a full 1280i, and im running it @ 1280x768, which is a resolution that shows up as the only widescreen after i hooked it up. Its just as clear as my dell 20.1" ive been living with for a year. This was going in my Bedroom for a TV, but i dont think it's going to make it in there!!!

the picture doesnt do it justice. I had to do some .jpg compression, I captured @ 3mega pixels on my camera, with too big and large of a file so i had to shrink it down to 1024size for the site and then slam some .jpg compression on it. But it's every bit as clear as my dell FP2001!!

There is a button on it to switch to 4:3 instead of 16:9 if it doesnt look right on this resolution on games or if the games dont support it.

Is any one else on here using a LCD TV as a main monitor?? The wife was thrilled to death about a nice TV in the bedroom that didnt take up space. But dam, how can i give this up!!! Hmm but i could sell my 20" dell on egay for a little less than i paid no problem. Dammit i love this LCD!!! I've checked out some other sights and you wouldnt believe how good the fleshtones look!!! :D

You can use powerstrip to make a custom profile if it doesnt sync. Also check and see if the monitor has a .inf file available.

Nice try, but i know where he works and where he got them from. This was brand new in the box, with a Paid sticker on the box. And he actaully got them tonight, Not 2 weeks ago. This guy doesnt sit on anything 2 weeks.


I've got powerstrip on the computer, but not loaded with windows if i dont need it. Im going to try some other customer widescreen resolutions, Windows only give me one. But out the box after just centering the screen it looks excellent, and only just upping the contrast ratio.

i "acquired" a Dell 20.1 flat screen about 2 years ago when they were going for about $1700. only thing it cost me was a few hours reloading windows on some laptops that had also been "acquired" by a friend.

I only wish I had a few more.

Response time is 25ms :( , I was looking at a sceptre 30" on Newegg that had a 16ms response time. I was actually going to sell my dell 20" and get it. It actually sells for a lot less than this 27" does, but it only does 1024 instead of 1280 like this one.

You have to run the strange 16:9 resolutions on the widescreens for them to look right. But I can see myself using this as a monitor with no problem, Even though it's main Billing is a TV.

How bad does it ghost ted?

My 15" LCD has a response time of 29ms, but it don't ghost at all which is really weird since we have some Benq 15" LCD's that ghost really really bad here at work.

Games are very playable on it, Running unreal Tournament on it with high action you can see it. But MOHAA and Battlefield Vietnam no problems at all. And Doom3 look amazing on it.

It's strange on some 25ms monitors. Envision 25ms displays ghost all over the place. Then a good samsung with the same 25ms looks killer. Of course samsungs a lot better monitor than Envision.

Now you want ghosting. I have a Eizo Flexscan 15" that i've had for 6 years more or less. 50ms response!!! But it's great for reading. And i think i paid $700 for it. But it's still going, You can see it peaking in on the left of the picture above. 3 LCD's on my desk plus my mountain of junk!!!

yeah, lcds have a so much better contrast and are sooo much sharper... really better for the eyes!

i think some manufacturers rate a monitor to high ms response time but they are actually faster... hence some monitors ghost while others dont even though they have the same response time.

No one said it was stolen. I've had quite a few people i know buy stuff on their credit card and sell it just to get the cash, also these had a paid sticker on them. But it was probably hot.

But no way i could buy this without the discount. Prison does suck I had a little fed time in my past. wasnt too bad. That was over a decade ago.

I know you were joking. Im easy going.

I've been sick and dying for 2 days in bed. I just finally arose today. You know i was sick if yesterday 2 brand new of the Newegg 6800 EVGA 16 pipe cards got here and i didnt even get out of bed to bench them!!!

So im about to now, and i'll put some picks of the screen running with them Saaya. For a year i wondered how good the 27 and 30" LCD tv's would look as a main monitor., but didnt want to take the chance buying one and getting stuck with it if it looked like :banana::banana::banana::banana:. Especially if you buy one of the EDTV models that are only 800x600.

But it does look good enough for a main monitor, and actually if i know what i know now about it, i would've bought it instead of the dell im using now.

A good monitor lasts you for years and years through a lot of rigs, I've never in my life skimped on a monitor. I've still got my first big dollar monitor i bought 8 years ago. A viewsonic 22" trinitron tube that still looks great.
But i'll get some pics up for you. It's hard to actually get good pics that due it justice, even usign a good digicam.

well i really cant say its mine, my parents bought it but i convinced them to, i don't have a pic, maybe i'll try and get one tonight, my parents get mad when i move "their" computer(most of the parts in it are mine), i played enemy territory for a couple hours a week ago on it, doom 3 looks well... scary that big!

damn dude! shut all the lights in the house, close all windows so no light comes in, make everything absolutely silent, shut all down, then get a 5.1 speaker system setup right around you, make a circle of candles, light them, sit in the center and then play doom3 ^^

actually i could hook it up to a really nice 6.1 surround sound system, top of the line yamaha reciever and 2 gargantuan JBL speakers in front that would look in place at a concert, ya it sounds nice, but sadly i dont have the right cable to connect the soundcard to it..., i'll definately have to try that though, i'll do it i finally get my rig back up and running, so it looks especially nice;)
