First of all, it doesnt list the X800 there, but is it safe to assume that it works with it?

Secondly, when I simply use the TV out via component video into the TV, the text is pretty blurry, the image is a bit strange with respect to its edges, and its all a bit ugly. If I were to use that thing, which makes the DVI port into component video, would it look nicer? I do have an HDTV that supports progressive scan.

Ill find the contact at ATI who can assist. I can ask Terry Makedon who writes the drivers. I know several people who are trying to get this running and have the same results. Frydog also purchased the adapter.

I have the HDTV Wonder

Its for playing HDTV signals on regular monitors. It works good but still has bugs.

It comes down to having a good profile for the HDTV you are connecting too.

Yes, it does appear to work, the people of the HTPC (Home Theater PC) section of AVSForum.com here (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?threadid=428385&highlight=x800) have gotten it to work, but the trick to making the output of your computer look good is a program called PowerStrip. PowerStrip allows you to set custom resolutions, refresh rates, and timings for your graphics card, so you want to run the same resolution as your HDTV native resolution, with matching refresh rates. You can use it to eliminate overscan and adjust the output so it is perfect, though you might need to mess with your tv's service menu and a good set of calibration patterns. Check out avsforum for everything related to using a computer in a home theater.

What not to do with a forum, my eyes hurt after visiting that link.

You are correct, it can be setup with powerstrip and takes some tweaking to get right.

ill check that out, I mean, the device is $30 so I might as well give it a try. The only thing is, I have an EDTV, so its only HD proscan mode is 480p. It Doesnt have 720p or 1080i. So I dunno how good or bad it will look.
