LOL, ok, was thinking maybe this was on some Dinosaur, and didn't know it was after a reboot, etc.. Just installed yesterday on an old Tbird, and it did the same thing, but was working, just slowly...

Hmmmmm.... did you uninstall your java first? Then use the new version and re-boot.
Yes I did.
I install the new Java version and the screen goes black.
Before I even got a blue screen. I don't remember everything it said, but something about an ati*****.dll file.

Ok. This is officially an issue. :(
I'll suggest that you totally uninstall your java and re-install is from here http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html You want the top one (SDK)
Unfortunately the server is down  so we can't dl from it.
I can't post it on my site as it's too large... I only have 10MB!
Another reason to have our own D²OL server!! Kazoo :stick: he he he
You might also need to clear out the java plugins from this folder before re-installing. C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files (Or C:\WINNT... for Win2000 & NT)
If this doesn’t work then just sit tight. I'll get all over this issue tomorrow on the D²OL forums. I hope this works.

Anyone! :help:
I'll get with some support pros tomorrow morning about this. (This is why we don't like java based apps :( )

If you are getting a blank install screen, do other java apps work?

Another idea... did you try the D²OL install with and without the packaged Java???
Recommended Download (With Java Virtual Machine)
Click Here to Start Download with JVM (http://www.sengent.com/ddesign/installers/D2OL/Windows/VM/installDDOL.exe)
Experts Only (No Java Virtual Machine)
Click Here to Start Download no JVM (http://www.sengent.com/ddesign/installers/D2OL/Windows/NoVM/installDDOL.exe)

If you use the non java install you will need to Download the java package off of Sun... so maybe they don't play nice together?

Prolly all people with an ATI card and Anti-Aliasing forced on?
Since Cat 4.9 there is a bug, very nasty. Everytime I got to do some Java stuff on my pc, I got to change the driver settings. :(
---
Attempting to play a Java based game or visit a Java based website results in display corruption under Windows XP when either an ATI RADEON 9800 SE or RADEON™ X800 XT Platinum card installed and AA is enabled. Further information on this issue can be found at: http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4570.html
---
Oh and same problem hapens with a X800Pro too. I can personally confirm that ;)

I think Rodzilla might be on to something, i've installed the VM version on 4 diff. rigs here, don't think any of them has newest java installed....but i've had no problems whatsoever.

i was having the issue with the newest beta cat's on an x800pro. But i updated JAVA and it got me through the install. For the last few days i only check the clients to make sure they aren't frozen in the mornings and let em fold, BUT the screens are still blanks.
What i do is this, right click on the icon in the bottom tray and bring up like properties or status. Then right click it and minimize it, then right click and hit restore and i can see everything. Weird and annoying but its working.

Here is another thing to try....
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
You want the JRE package. This is the brand new Java Runtime Environment. Hope this helps. :D

Yet another thing to try....
Boot up your PC in "VGA mode" (Hit F5 before the welcome screen shows up to display the startup options)
Let us know if it works then.

Did anybody try my tip? It does work for me in any case, with Anti-Aliasing on forced I have a blank screen, if I set it on application ... then the screen is normal.
And is Java 1.5 finally released? Hmm I hope it will be stable this time ^_^

The bug started in Cat 4.9 here, the Beta 4.11 do not fix it. :(
Don't wanna try Cat 4.10, cause it misses the 256mb fix I believe.
