Are the NE Patriots going to repeat as Superbowl Champs? And after winning their last 19 games in a row, who is finally going to beat them?

Don't count on the Bills :(

Kazoo
10-15-2004, 01:22 PM
They need to get rid of Bledsoe, and get a QB who can move in the pocket and make decisions faster. Defense isn't enough by itself for them.

Chargers fan over here.

The Pats look real good this year.

Last I checked, Las Vegas didn't have a football team.:(

Kazoo

I was born and grew up in Mass. I'm still amazed it's suddenly a good thing to be a patriots fan. :D Chargers are showing some potential with a couple of rookie's, namely Shane Olivea and Philip Rivers. As long as they can keep LT healthy.

And no, Vegas doesn't have a team. They won't let them.

The Jets will beat the Pats.
Eagles vs Patriots in the Super Bowl.
Make this thread a sticky so everyone will remember my prediction.

I'm liking the sports talk fellas...and here I thought there just a bunch of skinny computer nerds posting here ;)

I'm lived in Indiana for several years now and so have developed into a Colts fan...I am still a fan of the St. Louis Rams even thought they aren't playing like the good old days. I like the Ravens as well; always loved a shut em' up defense over a 10 TD offense.

The Pats are kicking butt this year. But, I think they'll lose a game or two this year no win streak throughout the entire system. I'd like to see an underdog team beat 'em like the Steelers or Jets. Seattle was looking good early...but I dunno if they can pull of an upset against the Pats this weekend.

Kazoo
10-15-2004, 03:37 PM

Woa williamsville isnt horribly far away from me, the bills are doing so bad it makes me wanna cry. What does the word offence mean?

Kazoo
10-17-2004, 08:17 AM
There are two sides to every team, offense and defense. The offense is the side with the quarterback and is on the field when their team has the ball. The defense is on the field when the other team has the ball.

eddy
10-19-2004, 04:53 PM
Jets vs Pats. Jets win. I don't know if you call that an upset. I think you'd have to bring in the points spread and all that in order to call a victory an upset.

Not an upset, San Diego has more wins, plus they are a better team.

-=TriX=-
10-20-2004, 02:23 PM
My upset pick: Atlanta at Kansas City

Reasoning: Although Vick is a hell of a young player, the Falcons have been cutting it close in alot of games. Their 5-1 record is very misleading. I'm going on a hunch that the Chiefs will play enough defense so they don't get blown out, the Falcons cut it too close, and Holmes and the rest of the KC offense can put enough points on the board to win the game.

Oh yeah, I'm moving to Atlanta this weekend so hopefully I'll get a chance to watch some Falcons games :)

I have no answer, priest and blaylock tore up the best rush defense in the league. Vick needs something other than the west coast offense to run in. It is killing his passing percentage and killing the receivers. DUnn needs to be used more in an out of the backfield receiver. Crumpler dropped a ball, price had one that he didnt catch. The most part, GET VICK OUT OF THE WEST COAST OFFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LEt him run and gun outta the pocket that is his MO

the Packers games are fixed during "important" games.
First the Skins/Packers game before the election. With the whole thing that if the Skins win, the incumbant stays President. The Refs messed up that game and let the Packers win.
Now the Vikings/Packers game. I'm sure furuquehabib knows about the rivalry. The refs messed up the fumble call and said the Packers got the ball. WTF is up with that.

yeah, they may have blown that call...but guess what? the refs blew the call on 4th down that the packers had...it was 4th and 1 and it was to luchey. they said he did not get the 1st down...they were on the 20 yard line. it was obviously a first down, but they said he was short...poor ball-spotting. if that was called right, then we wouldve scored and it wouldnt have been the same. it happens, bad calls are made. thats why they play the game.

oh, and the packers aren't gonna look back now :D GO PACK GO!!!

Good job. 3 way tie even. Could have been a 4 way tie but Attitudx didn't pick an upset. The two last games don't even do anything to change things.

thought i did but evidently last week was total carnage as far as time.... LOL owell, i havent picked an upset yet lmao...besides starting tomorrow i start a new job supporting msn games , so we will see how well i pick after having my brain picked lmao

I think we should only predict 3-5 games or so & one upset. Point spread might work too.

Atlanta's no good. Every week they play some horrible team. The only good teams they've beaten are San Diego & Denver. They might get a first round bye, but Green Bay & Philly are much better teams.

you have your opinion and that is cool. Vick is starting to like the WC offense and their D is awesome this year except the KC game, lol. They got the Crump and they got a punishing D that did beat san diego and Denver. BTW Lynch didnt get hurt on a block away from the play,,, Duckett flat ran his butt over. Iridium, tell me the year that atlanta went to the super bowl wasnt that the year a young vick walked into green bay and broke their home winning streak?? Yeah it was. GB and Philly are good but we will see what happens, ugly or not they are winning......

just to put into perspective some reasoning for the 1 loss at lambeau field all-time for green bay in the playoffs: the packers had 12 STARTERS INJURED AND NOT PLAYING IN THAT GAME!!!!!!! Plus, the ref's blew some important calls, but i'm sure yall don't remember that. i like atlanta this year. if they do come back to green bay in the playoffs, it will be a great game. the future of the NFL is qb's like vick and mcnabb...if you ain 't got one, you're a sitting duck (unless you got PM) btw...vick is going to be the firsat qb ever to rush for a grand this year haha...something cunningham only tried, but couldn't pull off w/ the eagles.

I like atlanta, as philly tends to choke it in the PO's. Green Bay just doesn't quite seem to have that winning magic this year, I think they will make the PO's, but that's as far as it will go (IMO) momentum is a confidence builder and half the battle.

I like the Pats for the superbowl, even tho Pittsburgh seems to have the magic, they've got a tougher schedule then the Pats for the rest of the year, and if they lose one, they'll be playing the Pats in Foxboro where they are tough to beat. And we didn't have any corner's or Corey Dillon in our loss to them.

Atlanta didn't go to the Super Bowl when Vick beat the Packers. Atlanta went to the Super Bowl three years before that when they where lead by Chris Chandler.

Vick's stats aren't any good either.

Yeah, Eric Metcalf, 'nuff said.

I'm really not big on Vick. He's just an average QB with amazing speed. His QB rating isn't anything special, & his TD numbers aren't good either. I like pocket QBs much more. I'd take Manning or Culpepper over him anyday.

Up to this year, I thought McNabb wasn't as great as he was made out to be, but this year he is really doing some great things. If he keeps it up for a few more years, he'll make my A list.

yeah they didnt make the play offs that year philly beat them mcnabbs first game back from a broken ankle or foot. Vick is good he has speed and he makes DE cringe when he scrambles, no one can scramble like vick and that makes him good. I think if they go back to packer land yeah it is gonna be a great game. I just love football and love my falcons

Manning? Mr. Choke artist? Mr. I can't whine-enough-it's-not-my-fault-but-I-have-a-hell-of-an-arm Manning? No way I'd want him leading my team. He may have a superstar arm, but he's smoke and mirrors. All flash. Maybe if we have a year when no team has a decent defense he'll finally make the SB.

Vic at least learns and improves, Manning thinks he's perfection and everyone else is to blame, when the truth is if you manage to rattle him, you own him. Nor could ever be his fault for sucking up so much of the salary cap they don't have enough left to get a decent defense -- leaving them totally one dimensional.

He's like the guy who goes out and immediately buys the newest, fastest hardware and races to the top of the orb -- on top for a few moments, but only until someone who truly knows what they are doing and is committed knocks him off his perch. ;)

If you still think Manning chokes in the playoffs, look at last year. Even in the Patriots game, they had a chance to win at the end.

You seem to be forgetting that Manning is tearing it up. He has almost 4 times the number of touchdown passes Vick has, 40+ point higher QB rating, LESS interceptions, & tons more yards. Oh yeah, hes going to destroy Dan Marino's TD record, no biggie I guess. Oh yeah, he won MVP last year. Also, Edgerrin James is leading the league in rushing yards, its not like the Colts are pass happy.

You seem to be confusing the two - Vick is all flash. His stats stink & the only reason the Falcons are "good" is because of their schedule. Go find me three good teams they've beaten this year. Vick's stats usually consist of 110 or so yards passing, 40 yards rushing, 1 TD, & 1 INT.

I don't know where your getting these opinions that Manning has big ego. He is the best QB in the league atm. He makes a ton of money, and hes worth every cent.

umm I read Blah blah blah and umm blah blah blah,
One Vick has had more than just 40 yds rushing and well you know the reason they are doing so well is a pumped up D. I guess it might be different if VIck was actually doing what Peyton Whining is doing and peyton what vick is doing. I can jump on a one deminsional band wagon as well.

Honestly when is the last time you heard vick say a teammate was liquored up at games and kicking field goals???? Hmm

I got three picks for the upset. The Jets, Cincinnati and Miami. I am not sure which one to go with.
High temp for the Miami game is near 50. The game is in Denver. Good for Miami
Cincinnati looks to have things going with their young QB.
Jets got a really good defense to stop the run. Pittsburgh can only run. Roethlisberger hasn't really thrown for a lot of yards yet.

My upset pick: Jets over Pittsburgh. Score 23-13.

I got ripped off. The only reason the Steelers won, once again, the referees. Around 7 minutes left in the game, I think it was Santana Moss who caught a pass and went out of bounds. No Steeler touched him after he caught the ball and time the he went out of bounds. Of course the clock is supposed to stop. It didn't. WTF is that.

I wouldn't go against the Steelers for upset. Go against a team like the Rams who have 2nd string QBs & 3rd string RBs playing who are playing a hot Carolina team.

Also, please update the points when you get a chance.

Did you see the game? Roethlisberger doesn't pass for a lot of yards every game. Pittsburgh could have an 80 year old man as their quarterback and they would do just as good as when they have Roethlisberger in there. He's overrated.

Well he doesn't make many mistakes. If you saw the game last week, you'd know that hes money. He was flinging 15 yard passes on the final drive no problem. The Steelers try to keep things simple for him.
