View Full Version : Testing brazing skills
I was bored today and decided to test out my brazing skills.
I "capped" a 1" piece of copper tube.

Add a fitting, seal it up and pressure test it under water.

Nice job.. Its tricker than it looks isn't it ;)
Next try Steel and Copper. Like a 3/4" steel pipe with a 1/2" copper pipe inside.
You have to tin the steel with 56% then use 15% to fill in the gap. But at the same time do your best to keep the 56% from flowing off the steel. Basicly it sucks.
cool nice brazing there :toast:
brazing is a real art hey, torch temperature just right and you rocking

The base is already polished... you cant polish that black stuff though. Btw how companies braze filter dryers, a/c units, and all those other little brazed things. All those joints look perfect.

cant u just buy a copper pipe cap and braze it onto the end? looks like you made a cap with the solder. ( i honestly dont know anything about brazing pipes just curious)
yeah you can buy caps. this isnt for a project or anything just to see if i could do it....
after doing that, joining same size copper pipes together
would be a walk in the park for ya
i normaly use a swagging tool for that so its not a real problem....
