Ok, I have added links to the sub-team images. Some things to note, a few got reset for various reasons and I couldn't remember the text colors people wanted so if they are wrong, just let me know. Also, any of the sub-team images that are show here, can't be altered by anyone except me, so if there is a problem, let me know. I think I got all of the images listed here.

Using your own backgrounds:
Because of how the script is setup, there are a few limitations on the images you can use. First of all, they have to be in gif form. Second, the dimensions must be at least 94px tall and approx 125px wide. More is fine, just not less. Thirdly, remember to leave an area open for where the stats are located, I can't yet have the stats be in one place for one image and in a different place for another image. Lastly, because I want to make them as friendly as possible to 56k users, please make the image as small as possible in file size (as close to <20 kb as possible, less would be ideal). I am working on making the script less restricting, but that is taking me time since I am a novice to PHP, plus I don't have a lot of free time.

Once you have it created, just PM me with the image. You can also see how the image looks here (http://jeff.canyonlake.net/meh/index.php?page=imagetester). Note, for this you need your own hosting (attaching it to XS should work fine) and you can NOT submit images via that website yet. It is just a little script I put together so people can test out their backgrounds before they submit them to me.

That would be cool and I know it would be a lot easier on your bandwidth... next to nothing! I was thinking about hosting Images with ppls names & team... like mine is right now... with just a simple text stats sig.

Once we get our dedicated server online we can have some fun with that puppy.

How hard is PHP? I mean will I have to take classes to learn it? I know nothing about programming at all... I really want to get some nice stats hosted by XS... something the whole D2OL community can use. That would really get our name out there!!!!

I was thinking about doing a banner text only to save my bandwidth. Eventually I'd add a page to customize the colors and the data it outputs and etc.

Right now only people on the XtremeDC team can use them. I have to parse all the stats, but I also remove them from the db before anyone can access them. Depending on my free time, I might add XS to it. I am not sure of all the changes that would be necessary, so we'll see.

I am really not sure how difficult PHP is, basically because I don't know it. Basically I took a sig script made for FAH and hacked it so I could use it with DF. Then I took that sig and made some more changes for use with D2OL. I don't have the skills to code it from scratch, I just have picked up a few things here and there to make it work. I have coded a little HTML, VB, and MySQL before, so I know the basics of how code works, but little beyond that.

I am taking a C course next term, so hopefully I will really start to pick up things then and will actually be able to make new stuff.

Making a stats page would be more work than the sigs, since the sigs just grab the data and then delete it for the next update. The stats wouldn't be too dificult if someone new php or took the time to learn it. However, if you really want your own stats page, I'd suggest using coolrunr's code. Search for him in the 3rd party additions at the official FAH forum. I was able to take his code and convert it for use with DF, so I think it should be fairly easy to switch it to D2OL.

If someone wants to create their own stats from scratch and don't have a lot of experience I highly recommend you talk pfb, coolrunr and Jason (of EOC). They are usually willing to help you out and answer some questions on how they did theirs. I might also be able to help in how to set it up.

If I had more free time, I might do this as a project, but right now I just don't.

Yeah, the colors of the text can be changed, except for "XtremeDC.org" and the XtremeDC and D2OL logos. Eventually XtremeDC.org will be a variable like the others sites.

I am just shooting off ideas, maybe a D2OL/XS logo? One really small to be used at various places and then a larger one? I know they are working on a website for D2OL, so maybe a big banner? Maybe a banner to replace the vbulliten image *points up*. Those are just some ideas for the XS team and site and I am sure they would be used.

Yeah. The stats pages don't give me each person's rank on the team. Eventualy I am going to code that in, but I haven't had a chance yet.

The dimensions really can be anything. It just has to be high enough to have space for all the stats (approx 100 pixels) and wide enough to for the stats. The text can overlap the image like with the Liquid Ninja sigs.

coolrunr released a script that does just that. Luckily, it is based off the same codebase that my script is so I am pretty framiliar with it.

I know it doesn't look great right now, but I'll fix it in time. I just wanted to see if I could set it up to pull the data from the db correctly.

It also comes with a script to configure the colors and what stats you want to show. I still need to spice this up a little to make it a little more user friendly before I release it.

I also need to contact my webhost and ask them to reenable making subdomains. Once this is done, both style sigs will be up.

So all of you guys that have the D2OL sigs in your sig, you might as well remove it since I am going to change the URL.

Add &team=xs to the end, that will give it team stats. I still have some other things to do, but feel free to list features/additions/changes that you'd like to see. Hopefully I'll be able to take care of them (soon), but we'll see.

I found some code that had the tags actually working, so I incorporated them in.

I've also updated the setup page to allow you to choose the tags.

The tags still need to have some changes made so they look better. Also, they don't allow for the customizable use of colors.


For the normal sigs, I have also reworked some things, most of which isn't noticable, but they now allow for multiple teams and the code is a little cleaner. Also, I changed some wording (to the stuff Jeff suggested a few weeks ago) and added what team the member is on.

As always, feel free to make suggestions and I will see what I can do.

And the team ranks are coming soon. I finally have a good idea of an easy way to do it...but actually implementing it is a little harder in pracice.

Just a favor if someone has some time since I suck at PS.

Just leave a blank area on the left. The right side should say "D2OL.com" or "Running D2OL" or something...maybe pull the cross from here:
http://www.d2ol.com/assets/general/logo.gif. Whatever you think that looks good so the teams without a background image aren't forced to use the tags or another team's background image.

Bok of Free-DC was nice enough to allow me too hook the sigs into his db. So that will give more statistics. So what statistics do you want shown and in what order?

Right now I am thinking:

Name on Team
Candidates (Total)
Candidates (Today)
Candidates (7 day average)
Nodes
Proeject Rank
Rank on Team
Team's Rank

But the problem is that is 8 lines and currently there are only 7. Redoing the images to give them more space would be the last possible option. I am sure there is a better way to do arrange them, I just can't think of anything.


BTW, if there are any other stats you want included, let me know.

With phpBB (the other forum program similar to vbulliten) the sigs don't work because they are considered a "security threat" because hypothetically I (or anyone else) could run a script from any user's account and take control of the site). So, to make the sigs compatible with other forums, they are now outputted as a .png instead of a php file. I hope that makes sense.

It doesn't really apply to XS members as the sigs work here, but say if a member here wanted to use their sigs at another forum (Jeff's island, AMD users, etc), they wouldn't work and this circumnavigates this.

Somehow the cron job got disabled so they stopped getting updated. It should work fine now.

I am not sure how you'd integrate it directly. But if you wanted to seperate images next to each other, you could just create your own background image for the sigs that blend in with your sig image. Directions on how to do this are on the first post of this topic and if you have any questions, just shoot me a PM.

I never noticed that you submitted that background. Sorry, I wish you would have PM'ed me or something to remind me and I would have uploaded it earlier.

Just set bg=9 and it will work. Eventually I will add both the kitten and this one to the setup page. Also, I had to convert it to a gif and reduce the quality some so it would be a decent file size. If someone can convert it better and still keep it small, post it and I'll use that image instead.

On an unrelated note, you guys have used 16GB of bandwidith so far this month, which averages out to 700MB+ a day. For the entire month of January, the total bandwidth came in under 6GB and averaged out to 170MB a day. Luckily I have 50GB/mo of bandwidth, but it goes unmonitored so it really doesn't matter, I just found those stats quite interesting. Unsurprisingly, they spiked quite a bit when Fugger posted his 7ghz topic, but even before that bandwidth usage was quite a bit higher than normal.

hey PS2pcGamer, I made up a sig for myself and anyone else that would like to use it. I think i've covered all my bases covered. Its .gif format, 295x94, and file size should be right around 14kb.

Anyhow, I'd really appreciate it if you could throw this up on the server for use by the team.

NOTE: This picture is NOT my own creation, it is a wallpaper created by Enox. All credit for the image should be directed toward him. I only got it to the right size in photoshop. A link to the thread containing the original wallpaper and more of his great work can be found below.

thx. took a few minutes to get everything to fit just right, but it worked out. The candidates line should support up to 6 digits without acutally encoraching on the emblem. 6 digits would probably overlap a bit.

I still need to fix the one I made so the Total Cands don't clip the blue graphic at the top. And if you hit more than 1K/day it kind of clips the "X" in XtremeSystems... This will be easy enough to fix :)

alright, after seeing that the numbers overlap pretty badly on the logo for our heavy hitters(6 digit candidates), I went ahead and lengthened the image to accomodate up to 7 digits for future-proofing. ;) I only stretched out the blue part though, so the XS logo is still in perfect proportion. And it still comes in at under 15kb, so 56kers shouldnt be hurting too bad.

It will be a tad longer than the rest of the sigs, but it will also look nice and clean. Lemme know(actually, let PS2pcGamer know) if you want the longer one uploaded.

yeah, the problem with that is that enox has made 38 posts since the middle of 2002.

I kinda doubt he's on here much anymore. I may just make up a red one, and put huge disclaimers all over my psot that all artwork is property of Enox, and if he wishes, I'll have it taken down immediately. I guess along this vein, though, I'll make any color you guys want. Lemme know.
