Ok... by default D2OL uploads its results and gets assigned new work every 6 Hrs. This sucks! ;)

I want it to upload/Download every 30 Min or every 1hr.

I have picked the net apart and have found NOTHING!!

This is what I have been able to find so far:
There is a file in your "...\D2OL\res" called "config.prp"

If you open it with Notepad you can see this line in there "HandshakeDelay=360” this is the time in Min that the client will connect to the servers, 6hrs.

Ok... just change it to 30 and it should handshake every 30min right? Nope... Every Time I change it and save it the number always goes back to 360 after I start the client or after it connects to the server. I've tried everything I could think of to get this to work to no avail...

Mess around with it if you want... It would rock if we could figure this out.

Why? It's so we can upload points faster and keep a solid queue.

hmmm

run 2 clients?

Then I would have 2 clients that upload every 6 Hrs! I want it so that I upload my points at least every hour. I'm working on creating a web page that shows the status of my farm (running or not, what it's working on, how many buffered candidates, blah blah blah...)

Plus I'm sure others would like to be able to track their progress like we did in DF...

Personally... I haven't had a problem with the 6hr thing. Maybe saaya has a point with checking with the D2oL guys to see what their reasoning is?

How many results are you getting? My fastest single CPU rig only spits out 30-40 results every 6hrs. If you went to hourly then you're only looking at ~6 results per upload. Maybe they consider that a waste of resources? Dunno.

If it really bugs you then just schedule a task to restart the D2oL client every hour. If there's work waiting for upload when the client starts it will upload it. ;)

Well this should help...

http://12.3.177.174:6969/d2ol/individual_nodes.php?UserId=Rodzilla&showdesc=Y

that's every node... it would rock to be able to track each node... and I would know if I lost one.

yeah, i think they want to keep the servers up and fast, and thats why they set it to one transfair every 6 hours instead of 30 transfairs in 6 hours.

the bandiwdth is not the problem i think, they probably just want to keep us from pinging their servers to death :D

people tend to panick if there is a shortage of any way and make the problem even worse. for example tell everybody there wont be any beer for weeks because of some accident in a brewery and there will be a mob in front of every shop buying every can of beer they can find...

same goes for the server i think, once we heard the df servers were slow everybody tried to upload as much as possible befre they would become even slower or crash :D

so limiting the server access prevents this from happeneing i think.

but your right, 6 hours is a bit much, im sure we can ask them and they can change it to 4 hours with the next client release :)
