Yes you could, but that would require an oil-change or the use of alittle propane (r290) in a blend with the R502. The XE contains R404a from the beginning so i wonder why you would want to change? R502 isn't that much better..

well iv been talking with a friend who tell me that r502 will take me from -35 to -60, but im currently using r134, if i cant find r404a can i use r22?

ppl sometimes find that r502 can be hard to condense in the smaller compressor, not sure in this case, they usually add r22 or r290 to help for this reason.
if you used r22 is the same downs as r502 it requires some r290 or an oil change.
mineral oil is cheap though and a few flushes could do it

but then witch is better r290 or r22? witch r the steps to put the r22 or r290 on the compressor and what kind of oil r u talking about?

That little compressor won't pull any -60c temps with ease. You sure it's filled up with 134a? If so, have you recharged it? Because Vapochill XE comes with 404a from factory.

Edit: -60c requires a pretty deep vacuum, it should do (boilingpoint at 1bar atm is -45.6c)

Pandrone I think that the LS comes with 404a not the XE if the XE does have 404a you will not get better temps with 502. r404a boils at a lower temp than 502.

when i recive it it has 404a but i recharge it with 134a, what ur telling me is that i need to vac the entire unit b4 bfore put the r404a again?

um yeah. you should refill it with r404a or r507 seing as they both work witht he oil in the system.

502 will work with POE, Alky or Mineral

Its only R12 you dont want to use with POE

Ok, I though only HCFC's were compatible with both, go figure. There is not point in useing r502 though r404a and r507 boil at lower temps.

Why did you take the R404a out in the first place?

i wouyld assume a leak.

The oil in the vapo is compatible with all refrigerants even the clorinated type Like R502. If you had mineral oil R404 and R507 would not be an option. R502 is a little warmer than R404 R507 is a little colder than R404 and R402 colder still... They are all considered Replacments for R502. The $02 will give you a little more capacity then R507. R 402 is 8% more massive than R507. and boils at 2 degrees colder.

hehehe had a leak in my ssitem thats why i take the r404 out of my unit and then i saw in the ticket of the unit that it has to use r134a so i asume that it has to be fill with r134a but b4 some research i discover that the vapochill xe comes with r404a by default :P so hehehe im going to put it up again :D

Ahh, this makes sense. In HardOCP's review, they talked about how the danfoss compressor was rated for r134a, but improved with r404a. They investigated reliability with this refrigerant, because danfoss had not tested the compressor with r404a, and do not cover it in their own warranty, although vapochill does.

hmm i use the 404 in a modded mach1, would it kill the compressor if i used 502? i alredy get really good temps....proly should stick with what works but i have to regas it soon cuz i had a leak

%02 would be a little warmer and no it would operate fine.

402 boils a little colder and is more massive but conducts a little less heat still a little better than 507 but not much..

but it has a high glide......
