hey guys i did the vcore pencil mod to my x800 xt and now i have rows of artifacting when i boot up and throughtout the computer session. I used a multimeter measuring the voltage to it and it is at 1.4v. I think default is 1.3 volts according to the vr-zone guide. I tried erasing it with a piece of eraser clipped by a tweezer and rubbing it in the place i etched the pencils marks. But i still get 1.4 volts after testing it.

Ive tested it in my new and old computer and same results so i know the problem is coming from the video card. So do u guys know how i can try to get back to 1.3v? id hate to rma this card since its my last component to finish my computer.

rma with ati take a week or two.

one thing u could do is measure the resistance with teh pencil on it, then use like a 1K or 500ohm VR and remove the smd resistor and solder the VR on, and then u can adjust

To completely undo a pencil mod, just shut down, remove the vid card, and clean the resistor with some Q-tips & rubbing alcohol. In case your card was undervolting before, just set ATI tool to lower than stock clocks before pulling the card, so it'll still power up OK, until you can redo the mod. :)

just a quick update, i tried the compressed air method, didnt work and i also tried to cut off a piece of eraser, tiny enough to fit between the pins. I then used a tweezer to hold the piece of eraser and rubbed it back and forth. still didnt work, I really have no idea what went wrong and i even unsoldered my vmem mod to it.

So i have to rma it back to ati for repair.

when i undo my pencil vgpu mod i'll use electric cleaner spray and a tothbrush! just spray and rub with the tothbrush and it will be gone. whit a rubber you only smeared it out. it work for me :)
btw yyou can spray whole the card to be sure the graphit is all gone the spray will dissapeare without a trace and the card is as new
