I wouldn't think weeks away...altho they should use AGP. Nividia wasn't going to kill AGP until mid 2005 I believe. Unsure about ATi tho.

Since pci-e 6800 ultras are practically non existent this would be very useful to those of us in the pci-e camp. Can't come soon enough :p

It's like R9800P -> R9800XT, doesn't worth it at all, waiting time and money (and money/performance rations) :)

could it be the ATI now comes with PS 3.0?

Yep, ATI will not add SM3.0 support till she start making 90nm GPU's.
Although there's a possible option that ATI will skip 3.0 and go straight to 4.0,
that's a much wiser step :)

There's a HUGE difference between 4.0 and 3.0,
SM4.0 is the thing that all the developers / designers are waiting for,
It's the Microsoft's flagship and next/new generation graphics :)

Then I can't see benefit of getting this r480 since it will only an overclocked r420 right?

btw I heard that ATI won't employed PS 3.0 for their cards because of their deal with microsoft...the deal is that microsoft will use ATI card with PS 3.0 support for their new XBOX version...so ATI can't produce desktop version of ATI card that use PS3.0 support, this to make sure that the XBOX will have more advantage then the PC version...that's why ATI still insist producing their cards but without PS 3.0 support although the 6800 now starting to killing them....CMIIW

I don't think there going to be overclocked r420 since...ain't the r480 110nm and the r420 130nm? I'm not sure tho. IF that is true than the r480 may have a higher overclock potencial.

Yes...you're right ATI actually move to 110nm...I guess that means ATI would use higher clock of their card right?...because as far as I know 110nm will be much more cooler than 130nm...look at nvidia card when they move to 110nm too...CMIIW

btw...I read the link about the r480 at the inquirer...actuallt samsung already make 1,43ns and 1,25ns memory chip....if the new r480 use one of these chip, maybe the 1,25ns one...I bet it'll be a killer vga :slobber:
