yes guys.....i'm going to order a 3200+ S939 from britain :D
and my gskill PC4400 2.5-3-3-7 should come on friday/saturday too :D
so, how u can imagine, i need a S939-board which makes at least 275MHz FSB (ok, there is no garantuee for that clock - but i mean boards, were the MOST boards can reach high FSBs)....
so, a lot of guys recommended me on the one hand the Abit AV8 and other guys on the other hand the Asus A8V.....
so, what you xtreme-guys think :D
my question again: i'm searching a board for that rig -
A64 3200+ Socket939
GSkill PC4400 (275MHz) @ 2.5-3-3-7

Personaly i would go with the asus a8v v2(all non wifi boards are v2) or maby the av8's new revision but ive not seen much about it. The MSI board seems to have terrible memory compatability problems and some QC issues. The gigabyte wouldnt be a bad choice if your not afraid to fiddle with it altho a tad costly.
I should be gett'n a epox nf3 ultra next week sometime and i'll let ya know how it works. Its a tad soft on the vcore at only 1.7v so if it undervolts i'll need to vcore mod it even on my air cooling. 2.8vdimm 1.75vchipset 400HTT in bios so it might be okay if she doesnt undervolt on the vcore and i'll get to put up some good numbers with it. Sending MO out for it tomarrow so with any luck i'll recieve it friday of next week. Might be worth waiting to see how it does, as ive only seen 1 review on it so far.

I had the A8V Deluxe v2.0 and I didn't care for the OVP. So unless you plan on needing to do a VDimm mod or use booster the ASUS A8V deluxe v2.0 should be fine.
I returned the A8V v2.0 for said reason and got an MSI K8N NEO2 Plat. don't have a CPU atm but the board looks nice.

with pc4400 he shouldnt need more than 2.8vdimm anyway. Really the only stuff out there you would need more than 3.1vdimm(where the a8v's seem to crap out due to ovp) would be bh-5/6 or ch-5. ocz EB and ballistix dont respond well to much more than that either.

So it seems MSI is the best choice, but what about memory problems ? And the other 'problems' this board has, but nobody can show or explain ?

I simply think some folks don't want to believe that the MSI IS a good board...

hmm......the MSI then?
@ hollywood: what are your max-stable results with the MSI @ HTT-Clock?
how i told upper, i need at least 275MHz ;)

well, unless i'm mistaken(only got the msi working last night) theres not htt voltage, no chipset voltage, limited vdimm(very) and i've heard booster isn't good for stability(same as my gigabyte which won't really work at all with it in) then the msi is a pretty crap board.
Its just iffy so far, bios after a reboot will often reset to "seargent" level of auto overclocking, so upon load it jumps up around 6mhz fsb or so, which if running close to the limit easily puts you past it. ITs a pain, the memory timings are extremely limited in bios? i've tried the alt f3 and shift f2 thing and don't seem to get any more so every reboot needs ath 64 tweaker messing to get setup even semi fast.
So crap crap bios, other than that, socket placement that prohibits large coolers, chipset placement that does the same, LOUD ass chipset fan, switched if over to a 5v molex connector and is finally quiet. Errm, well, thats about it as far as sucking goes, it seems to work but with bad bios work its a pain to get anything working.
Can't seem to get anything outta this chip, speed wise is fine(ish) but dropping multi and upping fsb even a little has done nothing for me so far, crapping out at about 2.85vdimm with cas 2.5,2,2,9,9,16 on eb pc3700, on any other board +this voltage i can do around 248Mhz, this craps out around 225Mhz stable. Down to chip, very possibly, week latish 03 but cg stepping, 1mb cache and not an FX ;)
The freaking abit wouldn't even run my , ahem, special chip, so not best pleased with that board. GOnna take my 3500+ 0.13 and try this and my 3200+ 0.09 at some point in my gigabyte(just to compare like for like, then maybe see if the 3200+ works in the abit board.
Epox i'm not gonna bother with, 1.7vcore is just crap, and crap vdimm too,
FYI:
i could hardly get pass 250HTT with my TCCD on asus a8v... fine on gigabyte tho.. :)

I've had an AV8, 4 A8V's and a Gigabyte 939. I just ordered a MSI 939. I hera it takes a bit of work, but when you get it right it does pretty well. Of the previous ones I've had i would say the A8V, but I think the MSI will clock higher.

I've clocked as high as 300HTT with an 8.5 multi for 2550Mhz on my 3500+
My mem was 1:1 but at very slack timings. (3,4,10,4)
My HT/LDT link speed was @ 3x.
My mem is Crucial Ballistix PC4000.
The MSI is a great board...it's A64s NOT the MSI that don't like BH5. Folks are just pissed because their uber Mushkin BH5 doesn't like A64s over stock speeds, so they blame the mobo. ;)

So anyhow...sell your BH5 and get with the year 2004. Buy some Crucial or OCZ Rev2 / Rev3 and the MSI will kick mucho buttocks!
with a half multiplier like 8.5, you ram is actually running at a lower clock, which is 2550 / 9 = 283 in your case.

Thats odd, i ran 2 gigs of bh-5 through my a8v and 3500+ and all went at least 220mhz 5-2-2-2 at 2.8vdimm. :stick:

Well...I was addressing peoples claim that the Neo2 can't run high FSBs...which is completely false.
However it WON'T run BH5 based chips much faster than the 220 that both you and I have run it at.
My main point is that the A64 really seems to like the Sammy TCCD and Micron-based chips over the older winbond BH series.

Got the board running, the package is EXTREMELY nice. I've always beleived MSI to be in the same boat as ASROCK (low quality, low price) but this board is PACKED with stuff.
Core cell is pretty neat although its the same as any other temp monitor, temps are whack though apparently my Mach II GT can only cool my 3500+ @ stock to 41C lol
Still trying to figure out how I'm supposed to flash this gotta stop by the MSI site to flash to bios 1.35

NO WAY!!!
MSI makes ALL top tier nvidia graphics cards, sweet looking sff PC's, top-rated optical drives and really good motherboards.
The main thing is that ASUS and ABIT have pretty much dominated the "hype" in the last 2 years.
Make no mistake, as the #3 motherboard manufacturer, MSI is no cheap or fly by night operation.
I would rate mobo manufacturers like this (for enthusiast performance and preferance) :
ASUS :D
ABIT
MSI :p:
DFI
EPOX
Chaintech
Soyo
A-Open
Shuttle
The others:
Tyan <---- Rocking server stuff...lacking in consumer options
Asrock <---- Owned by ASUS BTW
Soltek <--- Ugh
Biostar <---- Actually for building a CHEAP but nice working PC, you can't beat a Biostar
