well its official, as i took my computer apart and was reseating my prommy i heard this slight hissing noise, it was really late so i was trying to get it back together, i was hoping that the hissing noise was all in my head. but alas this morning i turned on my computer and the prometeia no longer drops in temp.

To the point: im taking it to an AC repair shop today and would like to know what exactly i should tell the technician. im fairly certain it has a leak, the unit is a mach1 modded with r404 gas. theres certain things that i dont entirely understand like how MUCH gas should be in it, how much pressure etc. if you could give me any idea on what to tell the AC guys when i bring it to them that would be great (technical information) thx!

I asked chilly1 almost the same question (MachII conversion to R404a) in a PM and he told me:

1. Recover R134a currently in system
2. Install schrade access valve in suction process tube
3. Triple evacuate to a final level of 500 microns
4. Static charge @ 72 degF to 40 psig
5. Run system for a few min with suction guage attached monitor pressure and temperature add refrigerant (gas only) in little bursts and maintain suction pressure of 6 inches Hg. Temperature should be around -50C actual.
6. load test with suction guage on machine pressure should stabilize at 0 to 4 inches depending upon load.
7. Never remove guages with unit running, wait until pressure rises to 10 psig.

I'm sure he knows what he's talking about.........
