OK,
I just got an Epox 8KDA3+ with a AMD 64 3700 for 325 dollars new. not a bad deal i thought.
So i got everything intalled yadda yadda
2x512 Kingstons HyperX 3000 DW-45
Readeon 9500 Pro
Intel InBusiness Lan Card
Everything else is onboard (sound, gigabit lan, etc)
Windows XP Pro
So my system keeps crashing when I would play movie files so i thought maybe somthing was over heating
Checked that CPU never goes over 55c with stock amd heatsink and i strapped a 80cfm 80mm fan to the vid card just in case. Bah still does it. So im like wtf, figured out it was a codec.
But now the meat of my problem. I am now getting random freeze's some times @ when loading up programs like BT or FireFox. But now it seems to do it everytime I run a 3d app.
Am i missing somthing Do i need to set the TCL, TRCD,TRAS, and TRP in the bios for ram stability?
Any information needed let me know

looks like your memory is fcked up...
2-3-3-7? what vdimm? try some more. what htt multiplier?
tried one stick at a time?

just changed timings to 2-2-2-6-1 Vdimm was @ 2.5 now is 2.6 should i raise it more?
HTT multi is 4x.
I think it i just the 2nd stick. i will try swaping them out 2night. Im gonna run mem test while im @ class see if i get the same errors.
Would changing the Banks in which the ram is in do anything?

set memory to 2.5-3-3-8 just to see if that makes it stable. also give it 2.7 or even 2.8vdimm. hoew old is that ram if it's like 2 years then it is probably really good stuff - but it does like voltage even if it is rated 2.6vdimm. if it stabilises at the settings i posted then try set it to ddr400 at the same settings with a touch more vdimm. once you've worked out that it was the ram you can start tightening the timing toward 2.0-2-2-6 agiain. also there may be a new bios out for the board but i would'nt flash it untill you find some sort of stable settings.
super-pi 32m test is aso a good memory tester imho - as is 3dmark
hope you get it sorted. sound like it's gonna be a cool rig once it stops giving you hassles.

Well i bumped the vfimm up to 2.8 and gave it 2.5-3-3-8 in 47 trsts i got 8 errors.
So its doing better i guess. This is maxing out my vdimm settings on my motherboard.
I called kingston just for the hell of it and since the 3000 is no longer being sold i could send it in for repair but i dont know if this would accompish anything.
Bah.

I think the CPU is busted, I'll buy it off you to test. hehe
back to the problem. Isn't 55C kinda high for a stock A64 considering it's not under load?
And have you tried putting hte memory in different slots?

Just moved the ram around to diffrent slots gonna run mem test while im @ class 2night to see if it is any better
Concering the Temp I thought so. When running Memtest it was up to 60 which really scares me. I think i need to ditch this stock cooling solution.

HTT multi is 4x.
Try setting that to 3x and then test again, you won't lose much if any performance wise.
I couldn't go above 230 with 4x on my mobo.

Alright so i went to my other system and tested them for errors indivisulally And they were error Free.
So I came to the conclusion that it was my cpu temp. I ran each stick seperatly and it was completely stable.
The moment i stick them both intogether I boot up and programs start crashing. These are a matched set they came together and supposedly were specifically desigined to run together.
Also runing @ 3x HT seemed to do nothing.
Also on a completely seperate issue My onboard NIC stopped working. All it does is flash the yellow connection light over and over. The moment i disable it and/or Unintall the drivers it returns to normal connectivity, with flashing green light and Solid Yellow. I reinstalled drivers and still no go.
Arg.
Update Right After Submiting this post I got A BSoD

it might just be your CPU temps....I would reccomend you stay below 52C. Thats just my opinion. Anyway...I don't think it would be your RAM...Just get a new heat sink.

This is a nice heatsink....it might need lapping tho.
it is a little loud and I'm a proud owner of it. Crank it up and you can hear it all the way accross the house but hey you dont have to run it that high.

Looks like you are running a memory divider - frequency should be 202 too
