i know all the HVAC engineer guys are certified, but it seems like lots of people are making DIY phase change these days, and im thinking of getting into it myself. i know one can get propane anywhere, and ive heard u can get r134a. but i see people using r404a, r507, r410a, r22 etc. commonly, yet it seems really hard to get once i actually try.
so where do yall who arent "in the field" get their refrigerants?
is there some easy certification i could get to handle them?
thanks in advance, im a real noob at this stuff ;)
I have a 608I and a 609cert. I got most of my refrigerant from johnstone suply. Chilly1 and pcice also sell refrigerants and you need a license to get it.

humm, I think it was 240 € (dunno what that is in SEK, around 2300kr probably) including the bottle. A Solvay Fluor 9.5kg 404a bottle. R22 was way cheaper but my father didn't want to take the risk of the fancy fine if you get caught :D.
Then the last day we found out that Tempcold.fi sold a 11kg bottle about the same price

Depends alot on where in Europe you are, if you live in sweden or denmark you stand in front of a hard time finding any refrigerant supplier (those are the two countries in europe i know of that have these laws/policies).
In sweden you need to get an "ackreditering" spelled something like that. Or you have to work for the military (if i remember correct shipping-companies are allowed to work with refrigerants too). So in Sweden your chances to get refrigerant legally is somewhere between nada and zero :D.

I don't know if they have Ethylene, because it was airconditioning shop. But I can aks them.
btw: Where are you coming from?
@blinky: I wasn't that easy for me, local refrigeration shops didn't want to sell me refrigerants. They said that only certificated people are allowed to buy it...
But you have to ask many shops/firms or whatever. Sometimes stores which sell gas (propane, oxygen and so on) have refrigerants to, its easier to get it there

In the Netherlands it is also impossible to get refrigerant. If you import it and use it it's also against the law, no matter what refrigerant. Except propane offcourse, they can't do anything about that.

Don't you have Linde-Gas there? Im sure they can order it for you :)
Um either 608 or 609 will work. A 609 allows you to buy refrigerant under 20lb so that might be better.

Um either 608 or 609 will work. A 609 allows you to buy refrigerant under 20lb so that might be better.yah 609 sounds better suited to me. so i just read the manual, study it, pay them $20 and take the test right? i dont need to go anywhere? i can just do it from the internet?
