I am running low on seal string and need to set up my Prometeia again, but don't want to spend $40 for some new seal string. Is there something similar to it (not foam tape or anything like that) that could be purchased from walmart/home depot/lowe's? Something in a puddy form that insulates, that's all I'm looking for.
Also - Around christmas I will get an Asus A8V 939 motherboard and a 3500+, and I will use my Prometeia. Right now it has the Athlon kit on it, and I don't have $100 to spend on a kit. I am proficient in the use of Armaflex foam tape and will use it once I get the kit made, but are there any reviews around here that show how to make your own kit? What materials and tools are needed?
Thanks everyone!
Weird, I just wanted to open a thread on the same topic. :)
So well, I second that, I'd love to see an alternative for the sealstring... the price of original nventiv stuff is ridiculous, there has to be a cheaper way to get this stuff.

Try the search button for the links on seal string, has been discussed before. I belive it is windshield sealer, try a local automotive store or large electrical supply, bring a sample to show them, they could probly match it if they have a good idea of what you are after. As for the mounting kit you may want to look at some of the home grown phasechange coolers and evaporators to see how they did it, there is, or was some good pics that even the retail unit manufactures took ideas from.

I believe Madshrimps.be has a homegrown mounting kit guide to fit both the Asetek and Prommy.

3M 2229 sealing putty comes in 1 inch wide by 10 feet long for around 10.00 US

i have used the 3m 08611 ribbon sealer which works but after about 2 months of 24/7 use it seems to lose its seal. but i also use dielectric grease in the socket and it seems to work its way under the seal contributing to the loss of the seal. fighting condensation over long term use is a real pain.

So which should I get, 3M 2229 or 3m 08611? Is there a difference? Do you think I could get this at Lowe's/Home Depot or would I need to buy it online?

The 2229 is mastic and identical material to seal string only a little thicker consistancy.
