Hello fellow OCing junkies :D

I just got my Giga-Byte X800XT Plat a few weeks ago.

The ONLY voltage the card works with is when the AGP slot is at 1.5v Anything higher and every game crashes forcing me to reboot. OCing is pretty low, too. I can't go higher than 530/570. My 9800XT didn't even crash this bad when overclocked.

You guys think I simply got a crapy card or should I look into replacing my PSU? I currently have a 1 year old generic 400W PSU. Using MBM5, all my voltages seem to be within specs though.

Here are my specs:
Asus P4P800 Deluxe
P4 2.4 @ 3.0
2gigs (4x512) Corsair Pro Xtreme
WD SATA 150gb HD
DVD Player
CDR

if you are using a generic psu, you are probably better off investing in a branded psu. They give much cleaner and stable power.

do they fluctuate under load though?

leave mbm open and run a benchmark or game and then get back to the desktop and check what the rails were doing.

closed case? casefans? maybe the card is running too hot?

With two F@Hs running, the voltages are pretty stable.

The 3.3v is usually around 3.28
The 5v is usually at 4.89
The 12v is usually at 11.61

I'd run the ATITool "Scan for Artifacts", all voltages seem to pretty much stay the same. GPU temp will rise to about 68C though, even with the fan manually set to 100%

Could it be the heat?
I AM planning to get the Danger Den XT block as soon as it is released. I got a little chiller setup, and hopefully I'll be able to have water/glycol with temps of around -10- -20C flowing through the blocks.

From what you listed, all of your voltages are under spec. Considering the fact that the x800 XT relies heavily on the 12v line, and this is the voltage that is the furthest off, a new PSU would probably help your OC.

Sounds like the PSU for sure.
