for max OC

what's better?

3.3v-40a
4.0v-50a
12v-36a

or

3.3v-36a
5.0v-45a
12v-45a

I figure if you have like 8 HDD's and 3 optical burners, etc then go with more 12v, but for max CPU OC and hungry GPU.... maybe the one with higher 3.3v and 5v??

for the 3.3v and 5v the rails are pretty close, for the 12v the second one is way ahead

amps isnt everything tho, quality of the product is important

Assuming both PSU are of similiar quality, obvious choice is the one with stronger 12V. MB that still feed 5V to CPU is dying breed, now the majority is eating 12V for breakfast. Not to mention those power hungry GPU which will like 2 dedicated molex for even more 12V+.

50A is nice, but it wont help ya if its only 4v :D

you are probably going to play with high end chips and cards, like ahfung said they are mostly sucking on the 12v rail so id get that one.
