Finally got my prommy up and running and think the OC stops @ 2.56ghz. (1.73 actual v-core, going 1.825v didn't make didlly squat of diff). Now I have CG revision of above clawhammer which did fine up to 2.45ghz under water... Reported temp on full load (prime 95) of evap head is -27c which I believe is reasonable... Starting to eyeing the 90nm except I am wondering how much can I gain in RL vs current clawhammer. (more cache is always tempting I guess). how are others doing with clawhammer?

wow. only 2.45 on water? 3400 CG stepping. That thing should be doing close to 2.6 on water and 2.8 with phase at least. I know every processor is different, but this seems kinda low. Are you running your ram at 1:1 or something? Is your mem holding you back? or try running your hyper transport link at 3x. Or try using a divider at 166.

what week is that chip? sounds like one of the first 3400's? the new ones should reach 2.8ghz with your cooling if not more.

CG 3400+ here ..2.55ghz on air.

then the fx chips oc that much better compared to the normal a64s? or there is a big spektrum of chips with some overclocking to 2.8ghz on air and others only reaching 2.5?

the average ive seen is 2.6ghz, but all the newer ones were 2.8ghz iirc...

I'm only netting 2480 out of my CG 3400+ also.(10x248 1:1 1T) Under water, however might be my other componets and OC-Rookie had it at 2.9ghz under a Vapo LS. I will throw it under my modded Mach 1 here shortly.

what vcore are you guys giving your chips? and what temps do you get?

Some cpus are strange.
Mine will do ~2.390 very stable but ~2.420 it dies, no matter what volt i give it. It like there is something inside them that check speed.

I just fired up a 3400DTR yesterday, CG stepping.

I just bought a 3400+ for my barebone but quickly tested OC. I couldnt get it stable above 2.45Ghz

heh, my max with my 3200+ was 2.65ghz 1.7vcore not stable with stock cooling :D

I got my 3200+ Claw C0 @ 2703 MHz superpi stable, and 2607 3D stable on a standard unmodded Mach II. I had 1.696 vcore. Evap head temp was -38C at full load.

Did you have good contact with the evap head?

I think so. Tried remounting 3 times so far and I see residue of AS5 on the evap. Will give few more shots I guess. Evap temp is bit higher than yours on mine though. -26c or so. (Hmm.... maybe something wrong with my prommie... it is Mach1 404'd and cap tubed by xtwerkz.com)...

Yes on air it 2.65ghz stable, using a ALPHA Cooler and a cheap $4 LED fan. Im sure it would do over 3.7ghz with a Delta screamer.

It's a 3400 DTR i got @ newegg as REFURB!! for $259!!! Someone returned a magic chip probably because it wouldnt boot in their board.

The picture above on the left is on air, but I was just trying to max out the HTT and memory scores so that's why the low MHZ.

3400+ DTR CG stepping doing 2420Mhz (220x11) on air Prime95 stable.

Still working for higher limit.

2800+ CG Clawhammer @ 2.43 1.77v DFI LP-UT 9x270 9/10 divider for 243mhz mem. pair of bh-6 @ 1.5-2-2-0 3.30v (have been to 250 1:1 1.5-2-2-0).

Forget week of the chip, think its 0412 or something.\

Havent tried higher volts since sticking in the bh-6, was having trouble getting the dividers working with some ch-5 before and I can only seem to get 3.3v for the ram (measured with dmm).. even if I set the bios all the way up to 4.0v. 3.3 line at 3.6 to 3.82 doesnt change a thing so I leave it at 3.6 for 3.3. Might just need to reflash the bios.

EDIT

Clarification:

Stock air, 42c load @ 20c ambient.

Setting to 3.2 in bios gives 3.3v
Setting to 3.3 or above in bios gives 2.64v on reboot.

My 3400+ CH was a brand new from newegg last month, and it was a C0 and I have a hard time getting it stable @ 2.5ghz :( although 381 HTT is rather nice (not benchable)

My old C0 Claw 3400+ could go all the way to 2550MHz for benches with ~1,7V but seemed unstable from 2350MHz.

It never did Prime over 2330MHz....odd.

This was with watercooling but it did the same with aircooling.

my first 3000 went to 2.5 on quiet air 1.625, my second woulndt do much so i gave up on it, and my 3rd is nice at 2.4 1.76v
seems funny cuase i noticed all the people staying it must be prime stable dont have a64s, ive never got one primed more than an hour or 2

3400DTR here week 0438 CH just received for Newegg a few days ago. Their site suggest its a CO core but mine ended with AR suggesting CG core.

Prime stable(12hrs) at 10x260 benchable at 2.70(needs lots of juice). But the memory controller is the worst I've had on any cpu. Will not let me run 9x290 for the life of me need to lower multi then it tops out at 320htt. Woopie.

This all on water overall not a bad cpu, Newegg as them for $221 as of yesterday. Pretty good deal.

3200+ CG here. 2.4 perfectly stable on quiet air. Not a single mhz more even on a Mach II. Tried all voltages between 1.55-1.9. Doesn't matter.

Just about the worst cpu in the history. DFI UT used.
