I dunno, i'm kinda skeptical of this mod because the rivatuner softmod doesn't work for over 90% of them.....

somehow i'm skeptical too....but they've benchmarks, etc.....

and IF it would be true, i would get angry....somehow....i mean, y i payed that much of money for my f*cking card, when i could just buy a half-priced card and mod it.....

Check at the end. He says he managed 480/880 on watercooling.

480 on core makes sense but never seen 880*2 = 1760MHz on mem.

I think he ment 880 double pumped :P

I'm pretty sure he meant 440*2.

Ack, beat me afireinside!

By the way, this was posted in the Graphx mod section.

Didnt a few places that did the rivatuner mod end up with dead cards?

if the softmod fails, your cards dead, not worth the risk

Agreed

Wrong. Rivatuner's softmod only modifies the NVStrap driver, which is loaded into memory during bootup. If the unlocked pipes or vertex processors are faulty, just turn the pipes off again, and you're back to normal. You can also disable pipes and vertex processors if you wish, to simulate what a 6800LE.

Only a BIOS flash would permanently damage the card since it's not possible to disable the pipes again after flashing with GT/Ultra BIOS.

Why don't you just stop posting?

Another thing, he claims he reached 480Mhz GPU on an 6800LE. I call total bull on that part because a single molex 6800GT is limited to 1.4vGPU, any higher and it becomes unstable. If that GPU can do 480Mhz with FULLY unlocked, and functional pipes/vertex processors @ only 1.4v, it should of been branded a 6800 Ultra Extreme Turbo Max Pro XT card.

quote from the article:

This is the 6800Ultra that I have been using for quite a while. In the past, I’ve achieved 19000 in 3Dmark 03 with this video card.riiight, thats complete BS

the 880 mem clock makes sense, becuase hes starting with a card that has default ram speed of like DDR700, doing this mod, wont make him have the same mem as the ultra cards

yes, that's something, that makes me skeptical, too.....i managed with my original 6800Ultra with 2molex @ watercooling "only" 475MHz....and it hardly benches with 480MHz.....so, that LE-core just punchs up my Ultra-core?

As soon as he says he had 19000 marks on watercooling, i loose all hope in the mod.

We have a winner !

Maybe he used those 61.77 drivers, tho i haven't bothered to try that cheat out coz i don't care about benches so i'm not certain about it's possible speed increase.

But the OCed core speed is faster than most OCed Ultra speed. And pretty impossible to pull off such a score with memory running 300+Mhz slower.

Well i've seen some posts about 500mhz core clocks on water but that was with a GT i think.

Those drivers don't give acurate results when that cheat is enabled so that probably gave him that score.

And it surprisingly died on him

For some reason, when I want to post there or become a member, it tells me I should "write properly"

So I figured, since I can't post there I'd post it here cuz it 'll get noticed here aswell and I can probably get my questions answered here just as well if not better so here goes:

Hey,

I have a lot of questions about the Asus V9999GE to ultra mod :

"once the X Y bridge has been disconnected"
-> This means unsoldering the tiny SMD right?

"and a bridge has joined the E and F"
-> How do you connect them? some solder? silverpaint or window repair kit? the SMD from between X and Y? ...

"the card can be turned into a 6800Ultra. Of course, only after the bios has been flashed"
-> Bios flash AFTER the hardmod correct (just to make sure)? What bios? ASUS V9999 Ultra 2 DT? ASUS V9999 Ultra Deluxe? Other bios? Where do I obtain the bios I need? Will that ultra bios need modding?

"there is no guarantee that the 4 pipelines on the GT will be in mint condition"
-> IF 1 or more pipelines are broken, how do I fix it? Just flash back to the original bios? Or wil I also have to connect X & Y and disconnect E & F again so that the hardware is back to it's original state?

Again, sorry for all those questions but if it's in stock I'm buying this card and I'll try to mod it so I have to be sure how to do it.

Thx in advance,

Kristos

"some posts" ?

i just know ONE person, who gets >500MHz @ Core stable/benchable....it's the member detonator i think....he gets 503MHz stable @ water....

Some can be 2 :D

It was about 1.5 month ago, i think i read it here and on another site, can't find the link atm, they have 9+ 20 page geforce 6800 threads.

Here's the link, it's in dutch tho :

if my 6800 can pass 12,400 on 3dmark2003 at 480/880 then theres no reason he can't do the same.
I've done nearly the same stuff this guy claims to have done, and with watercooling also.
it's not hard.
nor is it impossible.
this guy puts in a ton of work to do some great mods, including the first X800Pro to XT mods, he knows his stuff.
I see no reason to doubt him on getting 480 on a LE, it's not that hard. just cause some people can't do it, doesn't mean it can't be done. wanna see my 480/880 score, look in my link.

agreed doubly, the modders should head straight for the x800 vivos...IMO

Sorry for bringing this thread up but i have some questions about it. :)

What brand of 6800LE is more suitable to be modded to GT or Ultra ?
Is it real possible to do it or the article at Pcunleash is just crap?
Does it exist 6800LE in PCI Express format or does it only exist AGP ?

I would like to know this because i'm thinking of getting a 6600GT or a 6800LE if it's really moddable. :)

Thanks in advance. :toast:
