View Full Version : #2 under 3ghz p4's
Argh, toofast I hate you :p
Anyways, this is all with stock cooling.. I could take one if I put a new heatsink on 9700 and some ramsinks I think. Hmm...

Colin....
How much difference does it make to remove that shim ??
My radeon is stable up to 360/330......and thats it.
It's like these things come from ATI pre- overclocked.:(

toofast, originally I was known as Colin at MO too, but earlier this year was banned. Why, I dunno! :(
mike.elmes believe it or not, the shim stops the heatsink from making contact with the core! The gap is very small, but none the less cooling is compromised.
If you remove the shim, obviously it'll allow the R300 core to make contact properly with the heatsink which in my case allowed me to oc just a tad higher! ;)
