Fortron 530W 60GNA
after i hook this new PSU to my mobo (ATX connector and 12/5V connector only), i turn both mobo and PSU on and adjust the 3.3V and 12V, 5V via the pots.
i achieve the desired voltages (5.4V and 12.5V), turn everything off and proceed to complete building the rest of my system

after i hooked everything up, i go to power on, but once i do, the fans and lights power on FOR 1 SECOND and then everything stops. I then unplug the PSU completely from my machine and tried to turn on using a wire between POWER-ON line and a ground....the PSU fans spin for 1 second and then stops
now i cant even turn the PSU on by itself.....

this is the second Fortron 530W that has done this to me...
anyone have any idea how to fix this? is it an overvoltage protection problem?

Yep, it's the over-voltage protection kicking in on the motherboard. I've had that happen before and the only way around it is to lower your voltage.

BTW, reason I say it's the motherboard's fault is I've had the same setting work on one 8KDA3J and not another 8KDA3J. YMMV.

Which pots exactly do you turn? I have the same PSU and I want to crank up my 12V and 3.3V rails because they are alittle low.

Try turning the pots back to were they were and see if you can boot. If you can, the answer is simple. Don't put them so high.

are the readings from the motherboard bios? the mainboard shows them much lower as they really are.

use a dmm

Been a while since i was in mine but i think theres 2-3 pots in there that set the OVP for the rails on the PSU.
I had the same prob the first time i adjusted the lines on a NF7 but was able to boot after setting the OVP pots higher.

5.4v on the +5v rail is in excess of the ATX spec. (4.75v - 5.25v)
That's the source of your problems I'll bet.

it's either one of those:

- your motherboard has OVP which kicked in at 5.4v / 12.5v

or, most likely

- at some point u must have adjusted those bigger pots ( for 3.3v/5v/12v OVP for the PSU) and not only two smaller ones (3.3v and 5v/12v rails adjustment) which triggers shutdown of your PSU.

by default Fortron's 530W OVP protection kicks in at very high voltage - contrary to e.g. Power PC & Cooling 510W...

Same thing happened to me. Lower your volts a little bit and it will work fine. I have mine a 5.4 12.5 and 3.6 and its worked fine on 3 different motherboards.

I finally got my PSU just right. It took forever to do!!!

My 3.3 is now at 3.4 which is fine and all I need. Rock solid though!! :D
My 5 is now at 5.28
My 12 is now at 12.61

God damn OVP kept kicking and my PSU I know was a pain in the @ss to do. It took alittle over 3 hours last night and about an hour of messing with it today.
