Hi,

I am going to upgarde my A64 now.

I currently have

A64 3200
GIGA K8N-PRO Nforce 150
MUSHKIN LEVEL 2 512MB PC3200
GF 4 MX 440SE (temporary after selling 9800XT)
2x WD36GB Raptor RAID 0

I now want to upgrade to something better.

I am thinking of

SAME PROCESSOR (A64 3200)

MSI K8N NEO PLATINUM (Is it good?)

NEW MEMORY 1GB (NEED ADVICE)

NEW VIDEO CARD (6800gt? evga?)

SAME HD 2 x WD36 RAPTOR

Please give me some good advice for memory and MOBO and VideoCard

Thanks for the help.

From what I understand, the GB board that you have is a very good one. It was probably one of the best NF3-150 boards. If you must get a new board, wait just a little bit until the DFI board becomes available.

As for RAM, if you really want to get rid of your BH-5, I would suggest OCZ 3700EB. I'd imagine others will as well, as it's second only to BH-5.

Your video card choice is really a question of personal preference. In my opinion, your two best options are the 6800GT or the X800 Pro VIVO - the GT already has as many pipes as the Ultra, but lower clocks, and the X800 Pro VIVO can (in most cases) be flashed to an X800XT.

Thanks for the help!

I didnt know my board was good!

But the problem is that I cannot overclock due to the PCI/AGP lock.

I am probably going for a 6800GT

The OCZ memory is a good overclocker?

The 6800GT is a good choice. If you look around these forums, you'll see that just about everyone has had excellent experiences with the OCZ EB series.

I thought that the Gigabyte K8N Pro was one of the NF3-150 boards that actually had a working PCI/AGP lock. Perhaps someone else can help with that.

No NF3 150 boards lock AGP/PCI, you need an NF3 250 series to get the working lock's. But if you want the best for overclocking, I would wait on the DFI.

The K8NS Pro is a decent board, but if you want a real upgrade I would grab a 3700 and some EB. Some people have problem's with BH-5 on NF3 250?

YEah I recently read about the BH5 Problem!

I will then get a MSI NEO PLAT

and some OCZ 3700 EB

Yep, that's what you want:

In this case you get what you pay for...
