I recieved this e-mail from DFI today:
An update news for you. Due to the information update from Nvidia that they will start to mass delivery PCI express chipset by end of Sept. It means that PCI express card will be popular in Q4. So we change our product plan. We have decided to cease the production of nF3 Ultra D and enable new project of nF3 SLI/Ultra -D which can support PCI Express card. Sorry for the inconvenience.
:(
Well I guess this is good news for 4th quarter.

That means more wait.. lol :( Too bad.
After all that's a wise decision by DFI..

My asus 1.02 was a better board thna the 2.0 for some reason. I guess I'll pick up another 2.0 intil something better comes along. I don't understand why more manufacturers don't give us more voltage options on these boards.

Hopefully that work comes in handy on DFI's part. I mean, they aren't exactly quick out the gate. By the tone of the reply hopefully the wait won't go too long. Traditionally you figure a chipset comes out in september, next september we see a DFI overclockers board :(
Good thing though is I actually have been rather thrift in my hardware purchases this year waiting to drop a financial bomb on myself for something like this. New 939 cpu and SLI board, new 1*6800GT out the gate with probably another to join the fray later......
:explode:
Ah well, I'll probably dance around like a little school girl when it comes.

Man.... just when it is difficult to get an AGP next generation card, the new PCI-E slots for an actually good chipset (A64.... not P4 LGA) is coming out.
You think I'd be able to sell my 6800 Ultra for above 500 dollars when that comes out?

That's why I always get vid cards from CompUSA with their TAP program. They give you what you paid less the $40 TAP fee when a new card comes out.

Well, I'm glad I wasn't holding my breath and picked up the MSI Neo2. I guess that gives me some extra time to play with it.

I sent this thread to DFI.
Here is what I got back.
"Humm… this concerns me because the information is absolutely not true and I have no idea who sent that. Is there a way to find out where and from whom the user received the email?"

Jezzzzzzzz I tired of waiting. I want a good OCing 939 board. I hope DFI releases a 939 board sooner rather than later. I don't want to wait for the PCI express option, I'd end upgrading when the express option is avialible any ways.
A local vender told me DFI would have him a 939 board in a couple of weeks I hope this is still true. I'm even trying to get him to push for a beta board 4 me.

Here is an official statement from DFI.
----------------------------
“DFI’s mission is to support and enable new technologies, and the latest chipsets from NVIDIA have of course being incorporated into our overall product mix. The plan to introduce a LANParty motherboard based on the nForce 3 Ultra chipset has not been changed. What is different now is that instead of one socket 939-based solution, we have several in the pipeline for the coming months. Realizing the varied demand for graphic cards, DFI will provide motherboards that most likely will suit your needs. Unfortunately, we do not have release dates for any of the models nor the product specifications. As soon as we are closer to launch, I am sure you will be one of the first ones to be notified.
Thank you again for your support!”
