if your going to spend 120$ on a soundcard and 450$ on a video card...not to mention the 425$ cpu, i think your hard drive is going to feel neglected. :)

seagate is coming out with a new version of their hard drive which is going to have 16mb and improved sata which has to do with something about the order of the processes. if you dont feel like waiting(i dont know when the drives are coming out or if theyre even out)...you could get some raptors with a raid card and a storage drive if you feel the need for space. But id hate to see a great system like that with a moderate hard drive...its not even sata :/

and why dont you just get a single drive that can do all those things... instead of spending the money to get two..unless you absolutly need 2 drives. Plus...whats up with the scsi cdrw...cdrw's dont use even near enough bandwith to make using scsi any different.

and cooling??? slk-948u is nice for air

if your Not going to get a raptor, then at least get a 250/300gb maxtor maxline iii (16mb cache, sata, NCQ)

Go For the GeForce 6800GT/Ultra....cut back on those hard drives I've only got a 60 and an 80 gig and I'm fine. Nice RAM. Get Rid of that CD-burner. Go for a IDE CD-burner if you feel you need a second drive....everything else look nice...you might want to consider a S754 3400 chip instead. Cheaper and about the same amount of power under the hood, if your going to spend that much a 3500 might as well go the 3700S754 chip :D

first: yes youre fine with slower ide drives and u dont use that much space. BUT, hard drive speed is very important in gaming computers, which i assume this person is doing unless he just spends 2000$ to benchmark... fast hard drives reduce install times...boot times...and game load times. I was "fine" with my 60gig hard drive until i got 2 raptors in raid 0 ... i will never go back.

2: Socket 754 is not what you want to get right now. THe socket 754 desktop chips are being phased out and the socket 754 platform will be for semprons only. If he gets 939 he will be able to use the motherboard for much time.

Yea what dissolved said about the hard drives...the ones with the new 16mb cache...sata and ncq. But it would be better to get 2 76gb raptors in raid 0.

what kinda speakers/headphones u getting?
