I'am going to purchase a new computer, and for various
reasons I cannot wait till the new DFI board arrives in Canada,
as well as I need to buy before the 7th of September.
Here are two options please tell me which one is better,
or if you have a better configuration in mind, do tell.

1.

AMD ATHLON 64 3400+ @2.2Ghz 1 MB Cache 800FSB
Motherboard: Not certain so please recommend something
OCZ EB Platinum 512MB PC3700 DDR Memory
SAPPHIRE RADEON X800 PRO AGP8X 256MB GDDR3 VGA DVI-I VIVO

2.

AMD Athlon64 3500+
Asus A8V-DX S939 Mainboard w/Audio/SATA/GBLan/RAID/FW
OCZ EB Platinum 2x256EB PC3700 DDR Memory
SAPPHIRE RADEON X800 PRO AGP8X 256MB GDDR3 VGA DVI-I VIVO

Thanks,
Parradux

it depends, first off what do you use your comp for most? gaming? benching?

and if youre the kind of person who upgrades once and then keeps everything for years then i recommend the 3400+

but if this is one upgrade of many i recommend the 3500+ as S939 is the latest socket

as far as S754 mobos go - the gigabyte k8ns pro is a popular choice
dont get the MSI k8n neo...

S754 is generally more bang for the buck whereas S939 is more expensive yet more future proof and will be cheaper in the long run if you upgrade again because youll only have to buy new proc

Basically I plan an upgrade once every year. So S754 is really the way to go?

for now id say yeah
one year from now 90nm will be the latest and greatest and S939 prices will have hopefully dropped so id say S754 is your best bet for now, difference between S754 clawhammer and S939 NC is nearly obsolete

Alright great. I knew the difference wasnt much, just some extra cash to go s939.

Tomorrow I guess i'am gonna go buy.

Yep there's is a negligible difference.
BTW a 754 ClawHammer can easily beat A 939 NC in some cases, in much less money :D
