hi fellow modders,

well, i'm just looking for simple solution to probably very simple problem... here's what i work with:

http://www.speakeasy.net/~michasmisiek/xtreme/fancontrol_back.jpg

http://www.speakeasy.net/~michasmisiek/xtreme/fancontrol_pot.jpg

this is great fan controller. it has three channels each capable of controling 2 fans up to 20W.
but the only problem is that it will only go down to 7.5V :(
at 5V my two Tornados are really quiet and that's where i would like to stay for most of the day.

how to make this controller be able to trim voltage down to 5V?
can i just solder simple 1k ohm 15-turn trimmer and after i reach those 7V with fan controller's pot, trim it even lower using that additional trimmer?
if so, where exactly should i solder it to ?

i would really appreciate your help guys - thanx :toast:

Well...I have never really worked on anything like this, but I dont think you have room to add a VR in with the already present VRs that are under the Control Knobs that control the speed of the fans.

But there is an easy solution to this. Take a "Fan Power Extension Cable (3 Pin Male to 3 Pin Female)" and cut the power rail wire. Add your VR between those 2 leads and there ya go. Just plug the newly modded ones into the Fan Controller, and then plug your fans into the extensions.

That should work nicely in fact. I would start with a 1K set to 0 ohms and up the resistance to lower the voltage.

Here is what I am referring to:

Yeh....the truck bit the dust.

He broke his collar bone, scapula, back in 3 places, foot in 6 places, hip bone, and his leg below the knee so bad that both bones were sticking out of his skin.

He is fine all things considered.....atleast he can walk man.
