kinda irrelevant, but interesting to see none the less.
4ghz P4 775 chips are already out, and 3.8 EEs too.
doubt you and I will be able to buy them anytime soon, but who knows...

did you notice that they are overclocked chips?
the EE is a 3.4@3.8
and the 4.0 is a 3.6@4.0
kind of sucks that alienware is advertising these chips as 4.0 and 3.8 on the main page though.

for the EE

and for the 4.0 select the compare drop down box.

Wow, good finding.
Can they really do that?

does voodoo pc or falcon sell overclocked machines at their overclocked speeds? i knew alienware sold overclocked pc, yet i didn't know that they sold them in this fashion.
i think that some californian company, lieberman pc or something uses vapochills to cool thier cpu, and they have been selling OC'd pcs for quite sometime, hefty pricetags too.
i don't know if they can do this, i'm sure they can, since they do tell you, just not directly up front.
lol. looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer for 4ghz stock CPU's

There are a few companies that sell pre-overclocked machines, so I am pretty sure its ok.

They are supposed to say that it is overclocked.
Look the price for only an easy thing such as a totally basic overclcoking on watercooling....

Kanavit, as someone who doesn't OC curious what you would do with this system if you owned it? Would you run it @ out of box clocks or would you slow it to default speeds? ;)

I would run it @ stock right out of the box. if they overclocked it, it must have been tested for stability before shipping. I would leave it as is.

So using the same logic, why not OC and test your own rig for stability!! Come on, just a measly couple hundred mhz to start! ;)

I don't think he would know how to underclock it.

Actually, amd(for sure) but im not so sure about intel, allow like a 5% variation in clock(overclock no doubt) and itll still be underwarantee, so if alienware is doing this, they’re doing it with a lot of money put aside for replacement parts and stuff
