Heres my problem, I was doing some benching lastnight and was trying to get all I could. I had it up to 3.9 but at 1.725 volts ( 1st time it was ever 1.7 or higher) anyhow it crashed during 3d mark 03. Now when I went to set it back to where it has ran for the last 8 months it wouldnt post. I messed around and turned it down somemore and finally got it to post and boot.
Now here's what I'm wondering, What could I have messed up? mobo? proc?
it has failed to post twice since then and just going into the bois and not changing anything ( just going in and going to save and exit) will get it to post and boot. It has 0 problems in windows or games ie. no crashing, nothing. It has started no problem the last 2 times, but I'm wondering what I hurt when I did that? any ideas on how to test???

system is watercooled never went above 37c

edit
this morning I had to reset it 3 times to get it to post. Once it post and boots its fine, no problems at all?

I was running some of the cpu test in Sandra while watching cpu-z to see how much voltage I lost when the proc. was under a load. I was losing more than 1/10 of a volt from 1.63 to 1.53, I knew this would probably happen but, the fsb would jump all over the place??????????? It would range from 227 to 240+ !!! I had a 3.6 to 4.0+ procc !!!!!!!!!

Someone tell me this is a glitch in one of the two programs? or is it possible for the mobo to be screwed????????

I have heard of similar stories although I have never had this happen. Have you got any mods on your motherboard?

nope, no mods what so ever. just for some more info, I have an ocz 520 watt p/s so I wouldnt think it would be a supply issue.

I was going to update to the 1017 bios, but my asus update says can not find asus motherboard. Running 1016 now

I'm lost lol I have no idea what happened or is happening.

So far today it has started 3 times no problem and 4 times I had to restart ( enter and exit bios)it to get it to post.

You need a droop mod and possibly a vdimm mod to get any decent overclocks on that mobo. Ask in the mods section about p4c800 droop and vdimm mods.

I realize that , Im just wondering about the cpu z readings and the goofy post problem

any boards out there that dont need all the mods to o/c well?

The P4C800-E is better than the Abit IC7 for mods as the vdimm also needs the vtt mod which is difficult. Just get the vdimm and droop mod done and you will have better clocks.
