Just done the VGpu on my x800xt, now i need the overvoltage protection mod, but i want to use a fixed resistor like in this pic (http://www.ocforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=31430&stc=1)
any1 knows the exact value i need for the fixed resistor?

yes I know I can use a VR, but would prefer to use a fixed resistor
by the pic shold be easy to find out the ohmic value of the that resistor
Helppppp plzzzz

If my resistor color coding memory serves me right, that is a 100K fixed resistor with a tolerance of 5%. So the actual resistance is between 95K-105K ohms.

u think i should try hell fire? :)

If the mod in the pic is indeed for OVP, then wont hurt to do the mod...but I would be sure to have good cooling if you plan on passing by the OVP limits.

theres a r404 prommy cooling it :D , have to be carefull is with condensation :( .... this new x800 are too cool LOL
Lardarse says to use a 500k VR on the 1596, but i saw that fixed resistor pic and thought it would be better than the VR
... hummm... tomorow ill buy both 100k fixed and 500k VR... hopefully that will get me over the 700Mhz core on the x800xt pe

Do this...just to ease both our minds...take a resistance between the 2 pins that the fixed resistor is soldered to and I can certainly verify if a 100K is enough resistance.

41k between 1596 resistor
... funny that the value actually jumps from 40.7k to 41.4k omhs, is this normal? or my multimeter really sux? LOL
:D
PS: u still dont have 1 of these babies Hell-fire? u'll luv when u put ur hands on 1 of these :toast:
so far only did vgpu, from stock voltage 1,34 benching now at 1,78 trough 3dmark2003 at 690/650 :D
gonna do the 1596 OVP mod then ill start thinking about vdimm, vdd and vddq

So I can only use a 500k VR on that mod?
I cant use a fixed resistor like on the pic I posted above??

One important thing about an OVP mod is that it doesnt cause an effective increase in voltage on its own.
Once the OVP has been increased, the Vcore can then be increased with it.
Adding a 100k VR would drop that 41K resistance to around 23K..not sure what that translates for Vcore rise, but should allow a sizeable gap compared to what you are able to get now.
A 500K VR set to max drops the resistance to around 38K ohms.
Personally, the fixed is more "xtreme" so to speak, but may be to much of a reduction in resistance. All cards can behave different to mods, so be prepared to change out that fixed resistor if needed if you dont wanna use a VR.

I used a 500k Vr and im now benching at 710/650 :D
Still have the Vdimm/Vddq/Vdd mods to do....
.... poor gcard

Was the vr set to max Blaster? Or did you lower it's value to find the sweet spot?

650 without the mem mods is insane
You have a nice card there.

do the mod with Vr set to max then measure resistance in 1596 and keep reducing the resistance in the Vr till the resistance between 1596 is 20k

Thanks m8, i like it :toast:
Just finished all the mods, now I have a fully modded x800xt pe and a stock A8V LOL

arent vdimm and vdd the same? if not whats vdd? i thought pins 5 to 7 here were for the memory voltage?
