Running a amd64 3200+ cg on 8kda3j.

Last week i used a co stepped cpu in the board and had a "smd-grabber" or what is it called for the vdimm mod. Everything ran smoothly.

A few days ago i picked upp a cg stepped cpu in hope of running my gig of memory with higher fsb. So before mounting everything back i release the grabber so there was no vdimm mod attached. Dont want any crazy stuff to happen, like crazy voltages spikes that is very likely to happen on this wierd board? ;)

Anyway i booted up and everything worked good. I turn of the computer and attached the smd grabber again... NO boot... hmm wtf?

Took it of and tried to boot.. and it went up nice and easy.
Putted it on...No boot. Took it of and booted again perfectly.. and again and again... There is totally no sign of life when the grabber is attached...

Really spooky, anyone else that heard or could know what my problem is?

My gig of bh-5 cant survive with 2,8v.. they will die if help dosent come soon.

How old is your board? I heard some guy talking about similar problems. His board was like one of the first 8kda3j:s shipped.

Dunno its like 1 month old, but the wierd thing is that the vmod worked 1week ago but not today :S

Maybee it could be worth a try to decrease the resistance in the pot some extra.. in hope of a boot. Just a bit unsure what resistance we are talking if im boting with 2,5v in bios and 7k on pot etc etc. So if anyone with this board could measure the resistance on their pot and what chosen value they got in bios and what it its make..

Maybe you should start with like 2.7 volts instead. What speed are trying to run your mems on?

Btw, have you noticed this high pitched sound coming from the mosfet area?

yep high pitched sound is there...

Tried 2.7vdimm in bios with no luck... gonna try with some lower resistance on the pot and se if it makes any difference.
