Counter-Strike which runs on same engine as Half Life 2 is producing these results.

lol, 8x supersampling on the geforce?
lets stick to a fair comparison:

Could easily be broken driver or anything. The 6800U has a lot going for it. Xbit told a different story if you're into the beta tests. They were quite close.
The circle jerk they are having in that link over at driverheaven is quite embarassing.

Yeah seriously, how is 8xSS in any way comparable to 6xAA. Of course the nVidia is going to run slower in that format. Heck the nVidia probably runs slower OpenGL 8xSS than ATI 6xAA. (Of course I don't really know.)
I like how in the driverheaven thread, the benchmarker's two defenses for using 8xSS vs. 6xAA are 1) it's as high as the settings go on both cards and 2) ATI's cards look better anyway. It's so good to know that card reviews are being done on an admitted unfair basis as well as personal opinion.

Agreed. That's bogusness. Supersampling was being done away with back around when the original Half-Life was a new game. Why don't we force Trilinear filtering on the ATI card, while we're at it, hmm?
...and visual quality is subjective. IMO, ATI's AA method looks better, but brilinear filtering is not as effective as full trilinear, nor should it be compromised. ATI is still half-assing it there, aren't they?
If you look at fair benchies, both cards are fairly level. ATI is faster overall, but nVidia offers more features. IMO, I'd go with a VIVO flashed XT PE.
Offtopic: Boo! XS lost full, sig, .html coding support! FUGGER should have just stuck with .vb2, it looks too bubbley.

Driverheaven needs to be banned from the internet.
Check out the latest xbit article. 6800's are faster in CS: Source

The fact blurring that goes on between the pro-ATI and pro-NVIDIA camps is almost as good as the current presidential race in the US... at least the latter will be over soon. ;-)

Highest res is playable... Trust me ;)
so dont worry about that...
And in 12x8 its a couple FPS... So i wouldnt worry..
Btw. CS:S is almost just as ugly as CS... So you shouldnt be comparing it to anything... T&L sux in it ;) Hehe...

Yeah I saw the review on XBIT labs, very odd,
I dunno why the 6800's are faster :(
Anyway we should wait for HL2, i'm sure results will be different...

Maybe.
But Firingsquad's numbers were close to Xbits, except the 6800 Ultra won every single map.
HL:2 will have some feature that allows ATi to win though. $6,000,000 is a mighty persuasive donation. ;)

Haha, I could see that happening very easily. It doesn't help Valve's cause to come out saying "nVidia sucks" at a press meeting with ATi banners everywhere -_-

hmm....
I barely saw any difference in CS:S between my 6800GT/X800 Pro, which in a small way sort of disapointed me, as i hoped ATI would kill Nvidia like the situation with Doom 3.... but im not a fanboy
