Hello,
I shortly arived at EXTREME and i already love this site.
I did the droop mod for the p4c800 deluxe with the info supplied here.
I am pritty new to OC'ing so i have these simple but importent questions.
Can a high vcore kill your cpu without cpu temp rise??
How far can i up the vcore for my 3.0E prescott??
TIA

1: Sure
2: Depends on cooling.. I´ll say around max at 1.6 on water and AIR. 1.75 on prommy and 1.9max on cascade

when ur oc, first off all try like the maximum @1.4V, then @1.45 and like this, coze it is possible that ur CPU ll run for example @3500Mhz@1.45V but 3400Mhz@1.5V

My friends prescott does right now about 3,6ghz on air, however it's a 2,4ghz if my memory isn't failing. Same maximum vcore there?

yeah, all dies are basicly the same, they just have different multis set.
I agree... Max 1.6V... But if you can reach higher and you dare to :D Then give it 1.65-1.7 for benchies :P
Its at own risk... I take no blame... Hehe... Some people like living on the edge...
MAX 1.6@everyday use...
Would max give it 1.65 with water.... Thats absolut max...

Hey guys,
I reached 3600 Mhz with 1.45 vcore and a max load temp of 52C. (Prime95 run for 2 hours no error)
But now i have trouble getting to 3700 Mhz.
I upped the vcore to 1.475 to boot into window, but when i run prime95, errors occure just after start. Even when i up the vcore to 1.55v the errors just keep occuring just after the start of torture test.
I guess upping the vcore even more wont solve the problem.
I have a hardtime to make any sence out of this. Mabye someone could help me out here?
I think it must be a heat issue or something, or does the vcore always rise exponatial with frequentcy?????
I will try 1,6v and see what happens.
O yeah, i tested my ram at 247*15 1:1 with memtest98 and no errors. I was thinking that the errors accuring in my ram could cause prime95 to think my cpu was making faults.
Any hints???

Konrad has a 3.0E!! 1.6V on a Prescott is very high!
bias_hjorth and mini are talking about 1.7-1.9 volts. That's way too high for any cooling, when you are talking about a Prescott core. Thay thinks its a Northwood, where 1.7 is fine :)

1.6v is quite a bit for prescott.
And to OC, you really should raise FSB first, pump more voltage only when unstable. Otherwise, u try to stay as low as you can.
I run my Prescott 3,0 at 1,4V and 4,05 in a Vapo.
To reach 4,1GHz stable I need a lot more vcore (1,5V) so it doesn't seem reasonable.
for benches I used about 1,65V (maximum you can get with droop modded p4c800e).
with wc you might see simular things and there is no need to go for the max vcore.

dude reread my post.. ;) 1.75 on phase and 1.9 on cascade
