I'm putting together a WC setup for my new A64 system ...i will soon have:

- Original Cathar Whitewater block (i'll use the A64 hold-down to hold it on).
- Iwaki 15R pump. (forgot the full name).

i plan on using a T fill up or a home made reserviour. Since this rig HAS to be mobile, i don't want it to weigh too much, so which rad. will be good? i had these 3 in mind (suggestions welcome):

-Black ice Pro (dissipates ~440w)
-Black ice Micro (dissipates ~245w)
-Cooltek Liquidfreezer Single (look HERE (http://shop.freezinghardware.nl/index.asp?Pagina=00003&ItemID=1446) for info. on the Cooltek).

I would take the Cooltek, only it weighs over 700g !!! (without water!) anyone know the weight of the Black Ice's?

I have a black ice and it doesnt weigh much...But I would go with a black ice extreme instead...it is much better or go with a heatercore.

well 700 grams is under 2 pounds unless its really hard for you to carry 2 extra pounds then go for the cooltek =)

i would go with the cooltech. also the black ice pro does NOT dissipate 440watts. that may be true if you have that thing in liquid nitrogen with 2 delta screamers hooked on to it. the thermochill 120.3 can only disiapte 550watts and it is massive. so go with the cooltech

I would go with a good heatercore or oil cooler.

I wouldn't use any of those, as a heatercore would perform much better for very little extra weight. But if I had to choose, probably the Pro. Its much less horrible then the Micro (which shouldn't be used on anything hotter then Centrino), and doesn't have uselessly small barbs.

Even so, its going to hold back the rest of your system unless you have massive airflow.

All 3 of the listed rads. i gave are exactly the same price. I was thinking that becuz the cooltek is so thick that i won't be able to put 2 cd-rom drives in my midi-tower if i had it. Since i have a black ice xtreme in my P4 rig ...and can only fit 1 cd-rom drive (with only 1 fan on the rad). But i'll have to do some careful measurements. Cuz it is the best rad out of the three, also great value for money. Otherwise ill take the Pro. The micro has 1/4" threads so i can put whatever barbs i want in it, i only wanted it, cuz its the only rad. that will fit without modding my case (cutting a 120mm hole in the top of my case).

if you want the best performance get ahold of Soulsend

http://www.moddershq.net/articles.asp?articleid=8

Those should be the best performing rads/shrouds on the market atm. Dunno about weight tho.

hardwarelabs claims for the black ices are based on a 40C temperature differential with the air cooling them (and i don't think any of us would tolerate that in our systems...)
thermochills are based on a (somewhat more acceptable) 10C differential - divide the HWlabs ones by 4 and you have a (relatively) fair comparison between the 2 ...

hmm - if weight is a consideration you might be better off rethinking the pump - iwakis aren't light :(

so the black ice can only dissapate around 110watts of heat. how horrible

After the input here, i did some measuring, and the cooltek will fit on top of my case with 1x 2.5cm thick 120mm fan (without shroud). This is a work/game-station PC, so i gotta have all the drives. (unlike my P4 rig, which i ripped half the stuff out of just to fit in all the cooling).

The Iwaki / WW is already on its way, should be here tomorrow, so no more Pump changes.

I have the 120mm fan already. Once i get the pump/block, i'll then order the Rad. Which should be here by next week. I'll make a home-made res. next week to, since i can't find anyone here selling 1/2" T splitters for a T fill up.

so should be ready in ~ 1 week i hope :D and i'll post results then.
