What's the cheapest card, ATI, that has 8 pixel pipelines?
Also, what's a good 8-pixel card for stock overclocking? (That is, with little or no extra cooling.)
I'm considering getting a non-watered-down 9800.
Right now, I have a customer who wants a 9800 of some kind. Since they're paying me beans, i'm opting for SE.
I got two options: OEM, or Powercolor.
The 9800SE OEM has a 400/540 VPU/Memory frequency, whereas the Powercolor has 378/675.
I'm thinking the Powercolor, at only $15 more, is the better deal with the memory being faster. (Especially since i've got terrible luck with OCing memory on Radeons)
Any advice?

380/340 is a 9800 Pro - The 9800XT is 412/365, I would think the SE is much lower, like 330/315 or something...
SE is 4-pipes, but you can flash to 8, assuming they are all working (broken pipes = artifacts)

Actually, I got those specs from the manufacturers themselves. So it's about the most reliable info you can find.
And with 4 pixel pipelines, the SE can have double frequency on both and still suck. Pipelines > Frequency

You can take a 9800SE and use the softmod drivers to give it full 8 pixelpipes.
And it's hella fast.

And the success rate on that is?
50/50? Less?

For me, 100/100. Done it on 9 cards with no failures.
Doesn't raise the temperature at all, either.

8 pipes, but only 128bit... so there's really no point to it. (I know OP was asking for 8 pipes, but the 128bit is rather important.)
BTW, a friend of mine was only 1/4 with the 9800SE. FWIW.

I guess i'm lucky. That or Powercolors do better than Sapphire (the most common SE card)
I use powercolors because the memory is a lot higher on them by default. Plus, they're 256-bit.
And they come with a copy of Hitman Contracts.
