Hi guys. I was wondering how much the extra cache on the clawhammer helps in benching. Same clock speeds, clawhammer vs newcastle, how many 3D mark 2001 points does the clawhammer win?

Thx for the link man. Look slike its worth it to go with the NC, especially with a very old not too kickass clawhammer I have. But with 10X multi and a board without a lock, Tough choice too.

I would go with the Clawhammer.
It would be nice to some of your scores in 01 with some good AMD setups.
Are you going for some AMD benching soon?

I like the Claws too. If you get a good one it can clock just as well as the NC and 3dm01 really loves the cache with the new GPU's making it basically a CPU test. my DAAOC C0 claw does 2.5 on 1.58v on air cooling... can't wait to see what it does on the DFI with phase change.

Well ATM its more of a display rig in the office with a single stage dual evap setup with an Albatron VIA board not even sure if it has a lock. But of course I hope it will be a fast bencher too :)
How are the new claws doing, The claw I have is first gen, don't think I will be able to get good numbers from it.

This is a pretty good 3700 I have here.
It's week 16.
I would have expected 3300, oh well, it's close and it's stable.

Looks quite tempting Opp :D
Thought it'd be ran at 2+v though, remembered benching with 2.1+v nicely quite a long time ago before the wimpy Vcore reg of the Albatron gave way

The chip doesn't seem to like any v-core over 1.95V peak.
At -80C anyway:D

....:slobber: Mine only does 2.7Ghz with 1.85V. But from stock 2Ghz me is happy :toast:
1Mb cache versus 512kb makes up 200mhz in 3DMark2001Se.
Like:
Clawhammer 1mb 2Ghz = Newcastle 512kb 2.2Ghz

When you're above the 30,000 point range it's around 3k-4k+. Ask OPP what his highest score on a Newcastle is. On air it's around 1500-2200 points depending on the overclock.;)
To me benching a Newcastle is like benching a Duron or Celeron. It could be fun but you ain't gonna set many records.:D

Go for the Clawhammer.. benching 3dmark with a newcastle sucks, even if you have +100-200Mhz.
I was shocked when i saw the difference. Seems the higher OC the bigger the difference. At ~3000Mhz the difference is way to big.
