OPPAINTER, MACCI ,FUGGER and the rest of the top 3dmark performers how you guys bench on Doom 3, Spliter Cell, UT2k4, Need for Speed Underground, and other games or real world 3d applications? All we see is your 3dmarks scores, but can your systmes really run things solid and reliable for hours at top speed?

dont know about the solid and reliable for hours part, afaik most of the world records are suicide runs, or runs that only did so good only once, etc.

Well cant you benchmark real time games???

Or is it just me???

Doom3 is what will REALLY test your PC... Try to run a timedemo in doom3... Tell us what you get???

Just because its a game doesnt mean you cant bench it???

-=TriX=-
08-16-2004, 01:40 AM
yes, it would be nicet osee some different benchmarks, especiall those for games

Çhrist0ph

surely they must get bored of looking at 3dmark game test runs:p:

r3b0rN
08-16-2004, 03:33 AM
thats why they love 03 so much, they just start the run and go have some coffee, and maybe even some crumpets.

it woud still be nice to see what kind of framerates they're system are capable of in games. :p 3dmark is getting old ;)

Something like a 170 botmach in UT2 would be fricken amazing.

That's a bit insulting, especially coming from you. You ask this question as if you have never benched in your life and as if 3DMark was on the same level as Sandra memory bandwidth tests. You also seem to be inferring that a high scoring system is less stable in the real world than say your lower scoring one.

I suggest you educate yourself by reading some threads here, and perhaps you may even run a bench or two. You can obviously use it.;)

The original post isn't insulting at all, he only wants to know what most of us don't have a chance to know. Not everyone here is a hardcore benchaholic with dual cascades. You should calm down and stop acting like your better than us just because you can pull 30k in 3dmark

Cmon dude... You know very well that to make a nr 1 score the system is unstable... They run a SuperPI wich is at VERY unstable speeds... They sometimes run 3dmark and it crashes then tey try again... Hell a super OC system isnt as stable as a slightly OC'ed air system... My system wont budge... Hehe... I tried everything... 5xPifast.. Still nuthin...

what the hell.. the point of this thread is he wants to know what kind of frame rates these guys can get in games. Stop tooting your horns about 3dmark and stick to the topic.:off: :shakes: :sofa:

:with: (http://www.google.be/search?hl=nl&ie=UTF-8&q=timedemo+doom3&meta=) (clickable :D)

1) Toggle the console by pressing CTRL + ALT + Tilde Key (~)
2) Type "timedemo demo1" without the quotes, and press enter
3) The first run will probably be very choppy as the system caches all the graphics and sounds. After it is done, repeat steps 1 and 2 for a more accurate, smooth run

Install it onto a drive with xp and then connect that drive to your 2K3 machine. It might start up the install is intact.

Nice score Fugger ! Apparently if you run the benchmark and then bench it again the second time is higher as it does have to load up as much into memory. Can you confirm ?

100FPS for Doom3 timedemo is the first obvious goal. Doesn;t take too long to run either.

I suppose at 1024x768 on a X800XT PE that it is more a cpu test, or is it evenly weighted ? Does more RAM help the score ?

Regards

Andy

ctgilles: Just edit the MSI file to install it on 2003, it isn't so hard, just download a msi editor and remove the thingie about refuse install :)

But you haveto copy all the cds to your harddrive to do this, after you have installed it, just remove them and use your regular cdrom

zakelwe: I can comfirm that, in the first run it caches data in the memory, so you get better fps next time...

Fugger: in DoomConfig.cfg you can tweak alot for higher fps...

1280x1024 ultra on first run

1024x768 performance settings on second

640x480 on last one.

You need to run the test several times to get the best score. the first one is usually like 20FPS shy of the second run.

I will run some 1600x1280 aa stuff

heres a doom3 mod to make it work on any windows OS.
my back up PC uses server 2003, and I still wanted to try this game on it, withou wiping out the OS, so I found this.
it worked for me.

gonna run some UT2 benches? the benchmark w/ ut2k3 (full game or demo) would be a nice comparison since the benchmark utility isn't indcluded w/ UT2k4

LOL guys just yesterday checked how Quake 3 runs on FX-53@2.92 GHz + X800XT at stock. Just funny numbers: 640x480, everything turned off (config file with a lot of tweaking to get the max performance - I was professional quaker few years ago and for progamer there is no reasonable limit for FPS. So that config squeezed over 300 FPS on T-Bird 1400 + Ti500)... Well, it was 866.7 FPS and while playing on q3dm6 I frequently saw 2000 FPS on counter... That is what called overkill performance!
