Hi all,

Now Im not sure if anything is wrong but heres the deal:

I score 18857 with the following system:

IC7-G
p4 3.0c @ 3.75ghz (fsb 250)
1gb ocz pc3700 eb running 5:4 @ 2.5 2 2 5 (200mhz as I cant get it to do 1:1 without more volts :) )
5900 ultra at stock clocks

What do you all think? I was really hoping for 20k + but thats not happening.

I know 2k1 loves fsb so I went to 247fsb and got my ram at 1:1 (3 3 2 8) and the score was basically unchanged.

So Im confused will OCing my 5900 get me thousands of points? how can people get 20k + with "worse" systems. I test at default no aa or af.

Thanks for any suggestions

why dont you post your 3dmark2k1 score, and full system specs?

you probably dont have your system tweaked to top preformance, and thats holding you back. also, give the 5900u a boost in mhz, see how much that helps.

show me a compare link, id need to see whats up. one thing I can say is those using the cheating 44.03 drivers can score 2000+ marks more vs. newer drivers so that could be why. without cheating drivers, even a 9700 pro is as fast if not faster than a fx5900u

seems about right to me, with my fx 5900xt at 400/700 , cpu at 200x11.5 , ram 1:1 2,2,2,5 i got 17,000. u've got to remember amd>intel in 3dmark01.

fx cards arent very fast in 2001, in fact, NONE of nvidia's cards hold records in 2001. x800>6800 9700>fx5900 8500>geforce3

id go a 5950u over a 9700p anyday. but yeah 5900's arnt very impressive. fx's on the whole arnt very impressive.

Heres the best I can do with my fx overclocked ... need to get some better ram heatsinks for the 5900 I guess.

Still wish it was 20k or more :(

I see the problem, your not running dual channel, eh? whats your ram timings? Is it async? do you even have PAT? you should be over 100fps in car high! also you need to use LOD, set it to 7 and watch your nature fly

I dont like fx cards either, they suck in 3dmark, they suck in most games

ram is async 5:4 ... 250 fsb, 200 on the ram. Timings are 2.5 2 2 5

Can ocz 3700eb do 2 2 2 5 ? And Cpuz tells me im in dual channel, PAT (GAT on my ic7-g) is on auto, I havent messed with it since I got the board over a year ago and at that time anything other than auto would not post (since then I got this new ocz ram but GAT still has me wary to try it)

LOD you say ? ill try 7 and see what happens. 20k would make me happy, thats been my goal ever since someone broke that barrier :)

Uhmm...9700's aren't faster than 5900Ultras. They are about equal to a 9800pro with everything at stock clocks.

Hell, a 5900NU is, and it's clocked lower.

you complain about the 44.03 but tell him to change the lod ?

:P

lod is a tweak, 44.03 are cheats which replace shaders, lod just are like "ultra performance" but dont actually change any rendering, just lowers the IQ. as far as 3dmark2001 goes, a 9700 pro will match or beat a fx5900u(if it doesnt use 44.03)
