View Full Version : Voltage Read Points On EVGA 6800??

I need to find the core voltage read point for the plain jane 6800.

not the GT or Ultra, just the 6800.
I am fairly sure I found the mem read spot, it's just the big caps like the ones on the 5900 had, so thats easy to read, and it shows 2.7 volts every time.
I am not certain this is the read point, but it makes sense that it would be somewhat like the 5900 read point.

thing is, I can't find anything that seeems like a Core Read point.
I found a few spots that read 1.2 but none of them change when the card goes into 3d mode, so I don't think I have the right spot yet.

anyone know the voltage read points of this card?

this is the best pic I got of this card.
taken from neweggs pics of this card I have.

I would try to find the Vgpu by checking the ends of those SMD caps that are near the heat sink hold down plate right beneath where the core is on the top side of the card.

Then just to a connectivity test between the capacitor end that reads Vgpu and a location that is more suitable to check it when the card is running.

Kunaak, they dont have 2D/3D voltages for 6800.
Voltage difference when drivers loaded vs no drivers.
Check Voltage in bios and then check voltage in desktop with drivers running.

wow, talk about a 1-2 punch.

both of you are correct.
lardarse was right about the voltages, and Hell-fires got the voltage read spots right...

interesting, in bios it shows 1.2 volts, in windows and 3d it shows 1.3 volts.

time to go mod my bios and see if it's really effecting the core voltages now :D

Give some feedback if u're successfull =)
Also post the moded bios with more voltagem please =)

heres my Bios file.
it's a modded EVGA 6800NU bios.
all voltages are 1.5 volts, so watercooling or very good air is needed.

default speed is 375/750.
my card OC's to about 475/875 with this particular configuration of this bios. it's definatly a overclocking bios only.

Thks :D
Two questions, how much did the card overclocked with the original Bios and under what cooling? Those 475/875 with moded bios are under what cooling?

3dmark2003 under the stock cooler only did 405/825.

modding the stock cooler to watercooling, got me to 430/840 on watercooling 3dmark2003 stable.
modding the bios finally to max voltages, got me to 470/875 stable for 3dmark2003.

so from 405/825 to 470/875 with water and a better bios.

so, where are the reading-points of VDDR and VGPU now exactly ? (Leadtek GF6800Ultra - PCB should be the same)

Nope, the PCB is diferent. 6800NU PCB = 5900 =)

crap.....so, does anybody knows, where to read voltages on a GF6800Ultra-PCB ? :D ;)
