X800Pro non VIVO to XT Mod Found

Looky here what someone found and pointed out to me.

Ok for those who don't want to read the article etc.

If your R420 core has a
######.1 you have a pretty good chance of the mod working. Biggest thing is it has to end in .1 and nothing else.

All you ned to do is close the cut bridge, flash the bios and should be underway.

Mine is GB8831.1 so if other people try and succeed I am gonna try too.

the way of hard modding is pretty old method how ever only specific samples were able to mod...

somewhere on xs.org there is a thread with ati r420 core steppings which you can look at and see if those are modable or not...

mine was on the modable list and i modded it and i have now 16 pipes

if you want your non VIVO to be XT do the hardmod then flash it to an XT bios to enable the 16 pipes then flash back or your Pro bios using the old bios flash tool that "protects" ati's settings.

SO when I save the old bios using Flashrom do I name the file or does it automatically name it?

Well after some more diging and a few friends trying 1 worked and the other two didn't, aparently it has to be GA####.1, both ones with GB####.1 failed
Mine is GB8831.1 :mad:

Well considering that the ones used in the article all have GA####.1 it might be that way. For all I know my firends fubared the mod or there was something else that prevented them. It doesn't say that it has to be GA just has to end in .1

Till I see a number or atleast a few people with other thant GA####.1, say GB, or etc that are sucessful (puts this lightly, richer people who can risk losing their card first). Remember I am poe college student who works for Office Max at $6/hr :stick: So raising $400+ for new card is a feat in itself.
