I want to see for myself how the pixel shaders make a difference in the game, but I can;t find any option to do that.
how is it done?

It happens automatically when you install DX9.0C and patch 1.2... Try to search for it on google or on P2P...

Don't do it, 9c seems less stable to me and Far Cry crashes on a lot of games with the patch, just wait for 1.3. I'm not sure about the performance increase, I didn't play it without ps3.0.

not really automatic, you have to edit the .exe command, and have that crap 1.2 patch too, and something else too, cant remember. If you still wanna do it let me know ill find out the info for you. I had big artifacts etc with 1.2 patch and "SM3.0 Beta"

(that what it should say in top left corner)

I'd like to know how to do it just to try even though the patch screws the game.

add devmode to the end of your shortcut like -->FarCry.exe" -devmode

pull up the console and type "\r_sm30path 1" at any time, you can turn it off and on to see the speed diff if you wanted to.
