does any1 knows how to record things? i have a x800provivo modded to xt. the XT bios has vivo too ofcourse so that couldnt be a problem. I think I have to connect something to my S-Video In but I don't know what where and how :) I want to record some inaction demos with MOHAA etc..
I installed cats 4.7 with the WDM drivers. Installed ATi Multimedia Center. Configured most thing. Only now I think I have to connect something to the S-Video. First of all; what connector is the S-Video In? Is it the yellow connector next to the purple powerconnector, or is it the thing on the back? My theorie would be connecting the tv-out with the video-in so it will record its own screenactivities. But on the other hand that would be a little unlogical because its all on the chip already so why use a wire?

dunno if anyone is interrested in such things but I am ;)
Help much apprichiated :)

I don't think it's meant for capturing your own screen. It's VIVO, so the connector on the back of the card is Video In and Video Out. Just connect the output of your TV/VCR/Camcorder etc...to the S-Video input and you should be able to capture :)

:'( and what about the connector on the back next to the monitor plug? whats that? it fits a wire for audio... so figures I only can record visuals/audio from another TV and not my own screen? :(

thats bs imo :)

LOL, what's the point of Video-In, if you're just capturing what's on your computer ? You can use software for that...

Get Fraps for recording stuff on your own computer.

I have fraps already lol. I want to record demo's of clanwars, they're very popular. U should check www.clanbase.com or www.mohdemos.com for medal of honor demos. I thin theyre really cool. I didnt try fraps with this new rig and all, but I still got the same (kinda slow) hdd. With my old rig it gave me like 20fps when I started recorden. Now how the foek can u play with 20 fsb
A clanwar takes about 2 hours. Recording it with fraps will use like 10gigs of hdd space

yeah and it would've done the same if somehow your video card was to record it. on your new fast computer, with im assuming an 80GB HDD or more... u should be set.

No. using fraps requires alot of cpu %. using the vga/tv tuner will mostly use the gpu. If fraps was good every1 should use it.

a friend of mine got a tvcard and he doesnt got any fps lag while recording. 120gb maxtor. 2 hours is like 3gigs.

from what Ive heard, capturing ur own screen requires s-video In. thats what Ive got :o

edit: btw using 60gb maxtor 2mb :(

Just use lower settings, like 1024x768. I don't see how your a64 couldn't handle a game and fraps at that res. Plus if you are recording higher ress the filesizes become astronomical very fast.

Whoever told you capturing your own screen required s-video in was a big liar :p:. The only thing remotly close to what you're talking about would be to output to a tv and then use your vcr or one of those fancy recording boxes to record whats coming out of your computer. Then I guess you'd play that back of the vcr or whatever and rip it using some sort of capturing program.
